bad experience
I waited 2 hours past my appointment time to see him and when I was presenting my pain and issues immediately felt shut down and made to feel small. I did not really feel like he cared to treat me or my symptoms nor did I feel listened to or taken care of. I felt extremely rushed and disregarded and had to ask him to look at my xrays which seemed like an imposition upon him. I've sadly never been so uncomfortable in a doctor's office. This visit has left a huge impact on me and my attitude towards my condition in harmful ways.

Dr. Blam literally save my life.
I have had 2 surgeries with Dr. Blam in 2021 and 2022 . Both went even better than expected and my recovery was smooth. It was the second surgery with him though that I am most grateful to him. I slipped down some stairs and injured my neck to the point I was getting abnormal numbness and symptoms. I conferred with a neurologist and had an MRI. I then saw Dr. Blam for a recheck on my first surgery and casually mentioned the MRI. He looked at it with out prompting and came back to tell me I needed surgery. We scheduled it quickly and I found out later that if I had slipped or otherwise caused any further trauma to my neck I could have become paralyzed or could have died (the neurologist agreed). Dr. Blam took the time to explain things, was always kind, and answered my questions. I will always be grateful to this Doctor.

Great Experience
I'm not sure why there are negative reviews about Dr. Blam being arrogant or rushing through appointments. I did not find him arrogant in the slightest. He was kind, thoughtful, thorough and not rushed at all. I highly recommend him.

Dr Blam is the best orthopedic doctor you could ask or. My husband has had 4 surgeries by him and he is through and careful. I also have a surgery coming up April 21, 2022. I wouldn't trust another spinal surgeon. We love Dr. Blam and are more greatful than we can say. We were blessed by God bringing him our way. Thank you, Dr Blam, you're the best.

Dr Blam arrived for my surgery at 7:05am when I was scheduled for 7:30am. When he spoke with me before my procedure he hadn’t read my chart (I’ve a complicated medical history) by his own admission and he didn’t even know who I was even though I had seen him numerous times. Needless to say I had a major complication and 4 months later, I’m still in horrific pain and switched to a better surgeon to help me. Dr. Blam is arrogant, doesn’t listen well, and is dismissive of a patient’s suffering. He really doesn’t seem to care at all. I am worse off having had him as my surgeon.

I would never ever recommend this doctor to anyone. He operated on me and I had a major complications that may have been caused by him and/or his surgical team at a local ambulatory center. He refused to give me certain meds that caused a second complication and months later I am still in terrible pain. He refused to manage my medications once I was discharged from the hospital. Medications he prescribed. I cannot begin to describe the level pain and suffering I experienced under his care and the way I was treated is unconscionable. He should be ashamed of himself.

Dr Blam performed spinal fusion of my lower back (L4-L5) on 10/05/2020. I suffered from extreme back and leg pain along with great difficulty walking. Prior to surgery he explained in detail the surgery he was to perform. He was very considerate and polite when talking to me. He scheduled surgery in a timely manner. The surgery gave immediate relief. I am now one year out and remain pain free.

Literally the worst. Spoke to me like I was an idiot. Said “you don’t need surgery so why are you here”. The walls are very “thin” and I could hear him speaking to another patient the way he spoke to me. Also rude to his staff. He refused to answer my questions and actually said “how should I know”. Absolutely confirmed the adage “surgeons just want to cut”. Since I apparently didn’t need surgery—I was a waste of his time. It’s a shame because I’ve seen other doctors with this practice who were thorough, pleasant and helpful. But not Blam.

DR. BLAM HAS PREFORMED A SPINAL FUSION AND A LAMINECTOMY ON ME. I NOTICED HE TROUBLE SHOOTS AND EXECUTES WELL. THE ELLICOTT CITY'S ADMIN. AND NURSING STAFF WERE INFORMATIVE, KIND AND CARING. THEY MAKE YOU FEEL AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE. EVEN WARM BLANKETS WHEN YOUR TOES GET COLD. THE ANESTHESIOLOGIST STAFF ARE INCREDABLE. DR. CUTLER WAS AWESOME. I FELT SO COMFORTALBE DURING AND AFTER SURGERY, BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. I ALSO NOTICED THAT CARING FOR PEOPLE WAS THEIR PRIORITY, THEIR JOB KNOWLEDGE JUST MADE THINGS FLOW WELL. THIS PLACE WAS A BLESSING TO ME AND I HAVE NO MORE ASSOCIATED BACK/LEG NERVE PAIN. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Dr. Blam's office was able to work me in quickly for an acute onset of pain. He zeroed in on likely issue, gave me options for further testing and treatment, and we ultimately agreed to try physical therapy first. He did not try to push costly imaging, testing, or invasive procedures. The pt worked wonders. I was very please with my entire experience with both him and the affiliated physical therapy group.

Had a partial 3 level laminectomy on July 9,2020. Dr. Blam took his time explaining all aspects of the procedure, was very patient with me and answered all my questions, no matter how trivial. He told me what to expect after, including some pain. 20 days later my lower legs feel fantastic and the only pain I feel now is around the the incision and had an appointment with him today and he did some tests and things are progressing very well. Looking forward to playing golf with my sons. Dr. Blam says all residual pain should go away in 3-4 weeks and told me if I had ANY problems to call him. Couldn't ask for a better life changing experience, Peter Crocamo

I met with Dr. Blam twice before I decided to go ahead with the surgery on my lower spine. He thoroughly explained the procedure and follow up. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Blam went over the procedure again. The surgical staff was attentive and no time was wasted. Now, 2 1/2 weeks post surgery the pain is gone and I am walking straighter than in the past 4 years. I only wish I had done it sooner.

I have to say something about Dr. Blam. He did spine surgery on me Jan. 22, 2018 and I had nothing but EXCELLENT care. This includes before and after surgery. I don't know how anyone can give him a bad review. He cares about all his patients and does not have time to sit and talk to you about the weather. He will take all the time you need when talking about your actual pain etc. He is a Top Surgeon and takes great care of you. And I will leave my name. I am not ashamed of any review I give even if it is not a favorable review. This deserves more than 5 stars. Excellent Sugeon

Exactly one week ago, Dr. Blam cleaned up my L2 vertebrae and L2-L3 disc, completely relieving the hip pain that had grown steadily worse over the past two years. In addition to the surgery itself, Dr. Blam provided all the support and information I needed for my 4th back surgery in 38 years. Kudos to the entire staff at the Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics as well.
