The worst of what could go wrong
Dr. Yap treats you like you are subhuman. I came to her with a cancer diagnosis with a list of questions. She gave me at most 6 minutes of her time. I needed to ask more questions to move forward. Instead of calling she made me wait 3 weeks for her next appointment for another 6 minutes. The result of her surgery is permanent chronic debilitating pain due to the cuff that she left me with. I cannot sit down 2 months after surgery without agony. She does not prepare you for anything before surgery. She does not help or communicate with anything post-surgery. She discharged me as a patient (still with cancer) BEFORE I could get established with another oncologist. Forcing me to not move forward with radiation or any care that requires an oncologist referral to take the next step to save my life. Do not trust the office manager Michelle who seemed kind and supportive in the beginning. The first knowledge that something is wrong and holding them accountable Michelle gaslights you.

I am still angry after 6 years. She was rude, uncaring, and left a large piece of a tumor inside, prescribed the wrong Chemo. If I had not gone to MD Anderson after the hysterectomy I would not be here today. She and her staff were horrible.

Horrible staff and rude doctor. Zero compassion for the patient of family. If I had to choose between dying of cancer or dealing with these people, I would choose death. They don’t care enough to be kind, they won’t care enough to treat you medically. Find someone else. This office and doctor are horrible!

University Gynecologic Oncology and Dr. Yap have good reputations as technicians, but I found the office to be an empathy free zone. Dr. Yap must be knowledgeable, but she and her staff do not acknowledge that patients, especially first time patients, are scared. I found another practice.

I went in scared and shaken, but after my first talk with Dr. Yap I came out relaxed, informed and ready for surgery! She put my mind at ease and answered all my questions honestly and in a way I understood not being in medical field. I Love her! Her professionalism and skills as a surgeon are awesome! I hope not to ever go back but I would highly recommend her to others!!

Very impressed with my surgery experience with Dr Yap as well as her professional manner. I had robotic laparoscopic bilateral scalpingo-ophrectomy age 70 and went home same day and recuperated very quickly.

Not commenting on her skill level as a surgeon- I am not qualified to do that but her people skills and partnership with the patient for healing leaves much to be desired. She is bullish, smug, intimidating and even disrespectful demonstrating argumentative mockery when I objected to an exam that she wanted to perform- I needed more time, info and opportunity for numbing cream or pain killer - she belly laughed (rudely) and said she never had a patient that needed pain killer for an exam.

Clearly knowledgeable and an excellent surgeon, but rather cool and detached. She doesn't seem to be into that "team" stuff that they describe in their pamphlet. If you're a frightened first time cancer patient you might need more warmth than she's able to offer.

She was amazing from beginning to end. Super nice and down to earth but my incisions are impeccable. Anyone interested told dr yap was Doug my surgery they said well you have the best and i did for sure! I was really nervous after 4 csections and only having my obgyn to do surgery I didn't want someone I didn't know to do the surgery but I'm super happy.
