Don’t be fooled
In the Mommies of Marin group many praise Nona Cunningham - but please, do your research, be your greatest advocate (as she will not be) and don’t be fooled like I was! Nona comes across as kind but the minute things take a turn, her kindness disappears; she lacks empathy..Similar to what another person said, Nona takes on too many patients, categorizes us, and then fails to provide proper and individualized care. Be careful!

Physician and staff are wonderful
I’m stunned at the negative reviews, first, that there are any and second that they address the very things I find so impressive about this physician and her staff. I’ve been Dr. Cunningham’s patient for decades and she is unfailingly kind, understanding, thorough & explains completely my options on every medical issue I bring to her attention or she discovers during my exams. Her staff is always kind, considerate, professional and helpful. When I read the negative reviews I kept wondering if these folks had gotten Dr. Cunningham confused with another provider, however, I understand everyone has a different perspective and a different experience. My experiences have always been stellar.

Disappointed and disrespected
The only good thing about this dr / practice is the nurse, Courtney. Otherwise, Cunningham and her office are outdated (the dr, herself, has made comments about the quality and age of the equipment in her office) and she lacks bedside manner. Her humor isn’t funny, it’s disrespectful. Tied to her humor, in her attempts to alleviate angst, several times I have experienced her sharing stories of other patients that have left me questioning if the dr adequately performed her job or exam on me. Additionally, she does not encourage patients to question (or explore alternatives to) what has been recommended by the dr and staff, and she becomes easily offended when a patient rightfully chooses to do so. If you want a dr who helps you understand and make decisions based on evidence (and what is truly best for you, rather than form you to a general mold), go elsewhere.

Best care I have received from a doctor's office
The level of care and compassion you receive as a patient from Dr. Cunningham's office is exceptional. I fight to get my other doctors on the phone whereas I get a near immediate call back from this office. I had some health issues that were met with true kindness and care. They always followed up, in fact multiple times, to see how I was doing. They aren't turning around clients in rapid succession like in other offices. They care and know each person individually. Dr. Cunningham is no nonsense and no frills and I appreciate that from her and her office. She tells you her exact medical opinion while also being a human being. She will always stay longer in your room answering each and every one of your questions - I have never felt rushed from her and have always been heard. I must give a huge shout out to Courtney and Deborah. They are so lovely that I would consider them my friends, not just staff that works at my doctors office. If you don't want to just be a number in the m

Dr. Cunningham attempted (unsuccessfully+painfully) to strip my membranes during an in-office cervical exam without asking for consent or informing me that she was going to try. She pushed an induction on me without offering alternatives. I was extremely pressured to give birth on her schedule. She opted for a Cook's Catheter procedure and Pitocin. I expressed my desire to avoid induction, and she said she doesn't understand why people don't like Pitocin because it's "just oxytocin". She doesn't believe that Pitocin can drastically increase contraction pain. She performed a violently painful cervical check while in the hospital in spite of my repeatedly saying "NO", leaving me feeling abused and terrified. My husband told her the next morning that I was feeling terrible and asked her to mend the trust that had been broken. Her apology started with "I hear you think I've been a bad girl, that I've violated you." We switched to hospital staff for care after that, they were great.
