Dr. Nicole Arthur, MD

Went to my first appt with the doctor, although I was blunt with myself when I shared my overweight and need to lose weight; to which I admitted, Dr. Arthur commented 'well there's a difference to being blunt'. She asked me what was the reason for my visit, I explained to her I was interested in TRYING one of the new wt loss medications, cuz I have 1-kidney, struggle with eat & wt Dr. A told me that she would send an order req for a wt loss injection med, however she would not approve any prior Auth for the med, and that if my insurance didnt cover it then 'Oh Well'. I also asked her if she could possibly refill my medication for my Adult ADHD-Impulsivity, and she asked me how long I have been on it; I told her for years, and that my family medicine doctor prescribed the med to me. She side-eyed me, told me to seek a psychiatrist (which I am open to, anyway for my other psych medications); she ordered me labs and a URINE DRUG TEST. which offended me because I am not a drug addict!!!

I was fortunate to have picked an amazing Doctor after my previous PCP left. I read her bio on her profile, took and chance, and my experience was great. I have many chronic injuries but noticed new occurring pain. She pointed out in my chart from 2009 that i had a possible diagnosis so she set up an MRI and confirmed from the results that its correct. Had a doctor told me right away or even done the due diligent to look into my chart, I wouldn’t be suffering for 15-16years. When I bring up symptoms, she orders test so see what’s wrong. Not like my previous doctor saying “you’re young, you shouldn’t be feeling theses things” or “well that’ll cost the hospital money to do an MRI” I was sadden when I received a letter stating she was leaving Kaiser system. I highly recommend!

Aware of my chart information didn’t have to wait long answered and explained all questions

I read the reviews here and I can categorically say that she is indeed a 5 star doctor. She does not rush appointments she is not dismissive of your symptoms she does listen carefully. The most disappointing review was in regards to time. Especially now being with Kaiser if their policy is a 15m phone visit there is nothing a doctor can do about that; so any such concerns or complaints really have more to do with “the system“ and not with her professionally. I wish that distinction had been made. I agree with feeling like there’s not enough time. I have more and more such feelings myself but there are 80M Baby Boomers needing medical care which undoubtedly strains the system. I can guarantee you she is a 5 star doctor. Talk to her first. I can tell her anything! I would not have any other doctor at this point. (Kind of like “This is the hill I die on!) LOL Plus she loves Biscotti too! Perfect.

She performs great at routine issues or concerns, however as an ongoing chronic issue patient has not listened to the whole picture of my symptoms. I've had to advocate for blood work and am being ignored by years of fatigue, weakness, fatigue, shortness of breath, etc. Dismissive of these ongoing concerns but after fighting for additional 'outside the box' blood work learned my ferritin iron levels are low. Discovering couple times this test was done in my life all show bottom. Normal range 22-291 (my results 22). I've tried iron supplements following by the book when to take and to also intake vitamin c. Next steps.. iron transfusion which if this works would mean I wasted years of my life feeling this way. When requested, I was refused with reason my labs within norm. I tried advocating again reminding my symptoms and looking at all labs as a whole point towards this being the culprit of my symptoms. Was denied and told not to book appointment for follow up.

Dr. Arthur is a great in Family Medicine & Obstetrics. I found her in November 2016 and she guided me through a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery of my first son in June 2017. After confirming my second pregnancy in 2020, she did it again and my second son was born in May 2021. Needless to say, she will be delivering all of my babies.
