My appointment was a phone appointment not a video but my responses reflect my experience with Dr. Nicholas Melo. Dr. Melo described very clearly what was revealed in my CT scan. We both agreed that the original medical issue was very minor, did not show a condition warranting surgery, and was not causing me any pain. We both agreed that surgery is not needed at this time. Dr. Melo listened to my concern about a groin injury which was causing great pain and impacted my walking and even standing. Although there was no hernia revealed in that area Dr Melo understood my frustration about the pain and recommended an MRI that could show more than the CT scan. He also said he will refer me to an orthopedic specialist to discuss the results of the MRI and determine if therapy or something else will help. This was my first time meeting Dr. Melo. He fully answered all my questions regarding my hernia condition and clearly described the procedure for surgery and the options. I was especially happy that Dr. Melo wanted to check a previous groin injury that had not healed after more than a year, to see if there may be a hernia in that area as well, and that if so he would repair it after doing the umbilical hernia. I had intended to ask him about the groin pain, so I was grateful that he discussed that with me. Dr. Melo also explained what to expect regarding scheduling my surgery. I am confident that I will receive excellent care in the hands of Dr. Melo. I am happy I chose him to be my surgeon.
