Hip Replacement Success
Great experience. Everything went better than expected. My recovery has exceeded my expectations and the expectations of the Physical Therapists. The new hips working well. Billing was accurate and timely. The staff is knowledgable and deliver answers. If I had to do it again, I would not change anything.

Dr. Mast replaced my right hip in December, 2021 and my left hip yesterday! I had an incredible experience with my right hip throughout the entire process, from my initial exploratory session through post-surgical evaluations. Dr. Mast has extraordinary empathy, a quality that I honestly didn’t consider until I started researching surgeons for my procedure. This empathatic approach extends through Dr. Mast’s entire practice, including his exceptional team and his process. Even my post-surgery PT remarked on the thoroughness of Dr. Mast’s prescribed therapeutic approach to physical therapy. Not only is Dr. Mast a legit, hip replacement rockstar, he is a second-generation hip replacement rockstar. HIs father was truly an iconic surgeon in this field, recognized for his breakthrough innovations. That is NOT to say that Mast’s approach are experimental or radical. His anterior approach is thoroughly modern, but one that he’s practiced for well over 10 years (perhaps 20) and he has 1000s of successful surgeries. You owe it to yourself to consider Dr. Mast as your surgeon. Even if you live far away (FWIW, I traveled 4 hours by car), your understanding of Dr. Mast’s approach will set a high bar when you are looking at surgeons in your area.

Terrible care!
I saw Dr. Mast last fall when l began to experience intense pain in my right hip. He took some X-rays and did a brief physical exam the result being a diagnosis of tronchanteric bursitis. I was prescribed PT and sent on my way. The pain continued to get worse until it became debilitating, disrupting every aspect of my daily activities! I can barely walk and need a cane to get by. l went back to Mast a few weeks ago and he was dismissive. He literally told me that if l did a few exercises that the pain would be gone in 2 days. Seriously? I did try his 'miracle exercises' only to end up in far worse pain! My PCP on an MRI. In order to get authorization, my insurance company required the radiology report from the X-rays. The radiologist report clearly stated that there might be a fracture and that an MRI was recommended for further diagnosis. My PCP and l were stunned! Why didn't Mast look at the radiologist report? My MRI revealed a hip fracture that was ignored for months.

Dr Mast and his team are the BEST. After meeting with several surgeons I opted to have Dr Mast do my hip replacement and it was the best decision I could have made. I felt totally supported throughout the entire process – from initial consult to post surgery follow up. He and his team patiently answered ALL my questions so I knew exactly what to expect. I received incredible care at the surgery center and went home the same day. Since then, my recovery has been incredibly easy and pain free – I was walking unassisted within a week and back to almost all my activities within just a few weeks.

I had hip replacement, and it was like a walk in the park. Honestly it was so very different than I expected, and so easy. I went to physical therapy 3 times, and the therapist said "you don't 't need therapy, your gate is perfect." I have recommended everyone I know to go to Dr. Mast. Great experience...

Dr. Mast is does not care about his patients and is indifferent to their suffering. Imagine being in the worst pain you have ever been in and your doctor could care less and won't give you pain medicine. The pain from my hip was so bad that I took my gun out of the nightstand and put it in my mouth and almost pulled the trigger. I complained about how much pain I was in and Dr. Mast becomes red-faced and incredulous, and blew me off. Sure, he was nice at first, but then it was almost like he became a different person. There are a lot of hip surgeons that are rated higher and with much better reviews the patients love. I wish I would have gone to one of them instead. My whole experience with Dr. Mast was a nightmare from start to finish. It was almost like he enjoyed seeing me suffer and did everything he could to keep me in pain as long as he could. I have never had a worse experience with a doctor.

Fantastic! He is so blessed and skilled at his art of hip replacement surgery. I am almost 80 years old and I was terrified of this operation before I met him and he put my mind at ease. I had been in excruciating pain for 5 years and was going to have back surgery for decompression of spine due to the sciatic nerve which was pinched by crushed discs. But I had to have a new hip first. I was up and walking the same day and had very little pain and for just a short time. Any pain I had was coming from the sciatic nerve which I had operated on 4 months later (by another surgeon) and can now walk again without pain. I cannot thank Dr. Mast enough and will be forever grateful. Wonderful Doctor, staff, hospital, etc.

Had right hip replacement by Dr. Mast in June 2017. 3 weeks later I was walking all over the UK on vacation with zero pain or restrictions. I coach High School basketball and not a inkling of pain or restriction. Going in today for consult on doing left hip. Dr. Mast is professional and an expert and I only expect great results. I highly recommend him.

Every aspect of my anterior hip replacement with Dr Mast went better than expected. The office staff was terrific, the PAs answered any questions I had, Dr Mast's pre-op instructions were clear, the operation went perfectly, the hospital was tops, recovery was a snap. Looking forward to having him do my other hip!

I had an anterior total hip replacement with Dr Mast about three months ago and cannot say enough about the success of my surgery. I have had numerous surgeries (heart, back) over the years and I was amazed at the results and the entire experience. My recovery couldn't have been any easier and my treatment both by Dr Mast and the unbelievably efficient, kind and caring team that he has put together in the hospital was beyond excellent. A move has me contemplating flying back in the future
