was feeling hopeless with my prognosis, but saw Dr Gerken and he explained to me in great detail what he would be able to do for me. i went through with the surgery and it has completely changed my life. im so grateful to him and what he has done. he's the best!

He did hip replacement back in 2018 after I had a bad experience with a prior hip replacement and he had to replace the bad surgery and he did a great job I am still pleased with the job. Now have knee issues and going straight to him for work.

Knee replacement never healed, and last visit was waste of time, never saw him was running late.

My 1st visit with Dr Gerkins was not good experience for my knee issue. I waited 3 hours, my appointment was 1pm & finally saw him at 4pm. I have never waited 3 hours for any medical appointment. I have chronic hips & knee pains, which i cant walk, stand or sit for a period of time. I asked the receptionist if i can lay down to avoid more pain; they dismissed my request by not even checking if that is possible. Finally the medical assistant; Dominique called me into the exam room, i asked her why i have to wait so long for my turn; she rudy said to me; "so, do you want to reschedule?" Instead of apologizing, she was very sacarstic. I told her i dont appreciate her rude attitude. She then stomp off to her work desk & asked her colleague to show me to my exam room. She took my blood pressure & it was 224/110; that is extremely high for me. My bp had risen due to my pain while waiting for 3 hrs. Finally Dr Gerkins show up and i mention about my pain has increased due to sit & stand in very uncomfortable position. He never apologize instead he said "well, i have to all my patients". I told him about my vitals, he didnt even bother to check my vitals himself. that itself is a red flag. Dr Gerkins & His staff are not caring, not fit to be in healthcare. I dont recommend office.

Front desk and scheduling staff need additional training. They waste your time and money. They appear unprepared and unprofessional. His staff needs to be professionally trained.

Pleasure to deal with ..good communicator.

I was scheduled for hip replacement surgery. The office liaison (Summer) called me the evening before and told me to be at the hospital at 8:00 am for a 10:00/10:30 surgery time. I arrived at the hospital 15 minutes early, checked in and waited 2 1/2 hours before my husband asked why I wasn’t being called back? The hospital informed us… my surgery wasn’t scheduled until 4hours later.Exhausted and emotionally overwhelmed…I made the decision to leave the hospital and cancel my surgery. I did not get a good feeling from the moment I met Summer. In hindsight, I should have asked to deal with someone else. Lesson learned.

We had to wait more than two hours to see him. I was very impressed with the Dr. But, then things went downhill. The girl who schedule surgeries does not return my calls. I left messages 4 times. But, she does not call back. So how am I suppose to have a surgery without a date. The Dr. Told me they will find me Cardiologist for clearance for the surgery. The same girl, Summer was suppose to do that to. I haven’t been able to connect with her to do anything. I don’t know how to connect with the Dr. To let him know what is going on. Very Very frustrated!

Dr Gerken rectified my condition after a failed hip pinning operation in 2019. He reconstructed my right hip perfectly and lengthened my leg to replicate my left side. I am so pleased with the results and eternally grateful for his excellent surgical care.

Impressed with the surgical skills. The aftercare and long waits in his office make it hard to be satisfied.

Dr. Nicholas Gerken and his staff have been outstanding since day 1. At 6 weeks post op from total knee replacement surgery at NIX Downtown Hospital I am doing as good or even better than I ever dreamt! My mobility is strong, way more advanced and I’m happy with my results!! Dr Gerken explained all my options, my case and my rehabilitation from day 1. I highly recommend Dr Nicholas Gerken!!
