Dangerously Dismissive
I (40 year old female) had a referral after a CT showed a lesion on my pancreas, the head of UF radiology herself identified it as showing all signs of a Neuroendocrine tumor (cancer), she recommended a follow-up MRI and further testing as soon as possible. Dr. Costrini ignored her recommendation, ignored all standard protocols and just said it was a cyst and to come back in a year with no further testing or scans. Our GP found out 6 months later and was angry as it was exactly what the radiologist said it was and we had surgery scheduled asap with Mayo. He wasn't just dismissive, he put my life at risk and it very easily could have killed me. Worst doctor I have ever had by a mile.

I've never been so humiliated.
This particular visit was for my 17-year-old grandson, but Borland-Groover has successfully treated me for 15+ years. Communication with a very personable and professional staff was effortless, and the waiting area was clean and uncrowded. We only had a fifteen-minute wait before being led back to the doctor who would soon reduce me to tears. Five minutes into the appointment, he began berating me (a great-grandmother) with sarcasm for nothing more than TRYING to answer his question. While talking over me with his palm outstretched toward my face, he halted the completion of my innocuous response. After the appointment, he extended his hand to my grandson but ignored me. I still don't know what I did wrong! I've never left a negative review, and I'd like to think Dr. Costrini was simply having a rough day. I'm sure his line of work cannot be an easy one. I sincerely hope he sorts out whatever it is that's causing him such misery, but we will not be seeing him again.

Doesn’t listen and doesn’t care
My phone rang in the DR office and went to turn it off. He rudely told me to leave it alone and spent the next 10 minutes lecturing me on the distractions of phones. I tried to tell him that I was turning it off but he talked over me like I wasn’t even there. Then we got into my GI issues he didn’t let me talk and just reached over to push on my stomach as I was sitting in a chair with jeans and a belt telling me it feels fine. I left with a FODMAP diet and feeling like he didn’t care what I had to say. I later talked to someone who he had misdiagnosed for 10 years and is now very chronically ill. That person told me to “run away”. I said I was already turned off by my experience with him.

This Dr failed to follow up on two test he couldn’t complete. If he had, he possibly could have diagnosed my wife’s cancer two years early. As a result, we are now dealing with incurable lymphoma. I would not recommend this Dr he’s not thorough in his diagnoses.
