This was by far the most rude physician I have encountered in all my years of utilizing St. Elizabeth Hospital. His arrogance and lack of empathy were just as strong as his ego. There are times when patients may require additional explanation or have questions that lend reason to offer a bit more time spent doing such. This physician had zero desire to take the time to do so, and acted as if he was too “busy” and put out by my family’s inquiry during discharge. He was a physician taking over for another during shift change. I/we completely understand the nature of an ER and that their time and services need to be spent amongst many patients with various degrees of ailments. Perhaps he could take note from the calm and caring physician he arrived to replace. I have reached out to St. E Patient Advocate services and will be addressing this via the proper channels. Compassion and bedside mannerisms are not taught in medical school. They are learned or inherited traits - remember that.
