My mother and I took off work because she was able to get in to see a 'specialist' last minute for a very frustrating eye issue she has been dealing with. The staff and techs were very friendly and helpful, however it was over 3 hours before he saw us. When he finally did he was cold and impersonal. I asked one question then was immediately agitated, rude, indignant, and would not answer any of the additional questions we had. If he did it was extremely vague and and apathetic or 'well I don't know you so I can't answer that' but never asked her any questions about her medical history or background, just gave her a list of diagnostic tests to have her GP order. Here's the kicker, he didn't even fill out the paperwork correctly so that she could get the tests ordered, and because we were unhappy with his 'help' and wanted a second opinion he would not correct the paperwork so she could get those tests ordered for the second opinion doctor. After entire day, we are back to square one!

Overbooking is UNACCEPTABLE
A two hour+ wait is absolutely disrespectful to patients! YFailure to plan/prioritize should not be visited on others.

Very long wait times
Dr. Finnen is very kind and does thorough exams. However, the wait time in his office is horrible. I understand as a specialist he is handling patients in his office as well as consulting and dealing with emergencies. In my experience with other specialists when there's an anticipated longer than expected wait time you are given a chance to reschedule. Not true with this office. It's not uncommon to sit in a front lobby for an hour or more only to be shuffled off to another lobby for another 2 to 3 hours. It's honestly a half day of waiting to see Dr. Finnen for roughly 5 to 10 minutes. I dread appointments because the lobbies are so small and cramped. Asking a staff member about the wait time is a waste because they will remind you how the paperwork they send out says appointments may last two hours. For a new patient, yes, but 2 hours for established patients seems misleading.

Staff is rude. I’ve been waiting in the waiting room for 3 hours, when I asked what was going on the front desk lady was very rude.

I would highly recommend Dr. Finnen. His bedside manner is very soft spoken, very assuring, and comforting in such a scary health condition. The wait time for getting in the room is long, but he is in an office as a sole provider. In our area there are not a lot of retina providers so it is understandable that he has a full schedule and gets behind with emergency appointments. I've been one of those emergency appointments and I appreciate the promptness of getting me in right away.

The office was clean. I had surgery for detached retina in both eyes over a year ago. He told me that the surgery would not make my vision any better, though he did not warn me about the side effects and how much worse my vision would be afterwards. He told me I could go back to work in 2 days, a week later everything was still VERY blurry. He gave little information ahead of time, and his staff was pretty rude. 1 male staff member even told me after the surgery that I'm lucky I can still see.

Very kind and very competent. He takes the time to meet your needs. I had a very serious eye emergency and he came in at night to examine my eye.
