Psychiatrists are M.D. physicians with the full range of medical training received by the typical M.D. physician. As long as he is licensed, he is annually receiving continuing education to maintain his license. It is fine that his continuing education is in other areas of medicine and not necessarily psychiatry.

He is a psychiatrist but not a real doctor. Yes, he has an MD in psychiatry not in internal medicine. He has wormed his way into the established medical community that treats diabetes and heart disease and other serious physical conditions. He's not a qualified to treat you. He refuses to recognize his psychiatric training. Go find a real medical doctor that has been trained in the field of internal medicine. Dr. Barnard is no internist. He's no cardiologist. He's a poser.
