Review for Dr. Nazanin Khakpour at Moffitt Cancer
Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Khakpour was not what I had hoped for. I didn’t feel that my surgical options were thoroughly explained, especially when it came to nerve preservation during my double mastectomy. I specifically asked about it prior to surgery and was told it wasn’t available for patients like me—but I’ve since learned that this was not entirely accurate. What she should have said is that she wasn't trained in those techniques. She also didn’t suggest alternative surgeons who were, and in the overwhelming fog of a new cancer diagnosis, I didn’t know to push for more information. As a result, I now live with lifelong nerve damage that could have been avoided. Another surgeon later performed revision surgery to address the painful neuromas left behind, and while the pain is reduced, I have no sensation across my chest. People need to know that mastectomies do not have to result in permanent numbness and pain. Patients deserve full transparency and care that prioriti

I have been treated with compassion, respect and care so far in all my dealings with the physicians and support staff at Moffitt! I really like how everyone listens to my questions and concerns and no one has treated me like I'm incapable of intelligent discourse or as though I am hysterical female like several of the Dr's at other practices I have been to.

I saw Dr. Khakpour for a diagnosis of DCIS. She explained the steps needed and all of the alternatives. Ultimately the decision was my own, but I felt prepared to make it. She was very pleasant every time I saw her. I would recommend her for your treatment.

The BEST surgeon!
Dr. Khakpour explained everything so clearly before my lumpectomy and honestly cared about my well-being. The incision and stitching is so remarkable that at only 5 weeks out, I can tell that there will be minimal scarring. I would highly recommend her. She takes time to answer any questions and has a very positive attitude!!! I’m so very happy with her work!!!

I wish to alert potential patients to think long and hard before engaging services. I was diagnosed with Stage 0 bilateral DCIS. Lumpectomy Surgery on May 10,2021. Follow up was not clear margins on right breast. Second lumpectomy surgery on June 7. Follow up not clear margin. Wanted to perform 3rd surgery . I am seeking treatment elsewhere. Find out what her reincision rate is. Be cautious

I do Not recommend her. I had a bilateral mastectomy. I told her I wanted to go flat. No implants. Just a nice flat smooth chest. She left me with large, ugly dog ears! When I asked her about them she said she could snip them off. When I asked her why I had them she said “well I’m not a plastic surgeon!” I am heart broken. Now I have to find a plastic surgeon whom I can trust! In addition I had to stay in the hospital an extra week longer because I contracted cellulitis. And an additional 6 weeks of outpatient infusion treatments. Terrible experience.

I was surprised to read the above negative review as this was not my experience at all. I never felt like I had to wait to long for my appointments. I chose this Dr because she was the one I could get in to the fastest after my diagnosis at another doctor. She called me on the phone several times with test results, saving me a visit back to an out of town facility. The quality of my scars compared to others I have seen make me very thankful for her surgical expertise. She is a good doctor.

I would not recommend Dr. Khakpour to anyone. She has way too many patients and cannot handle the ones she has. After 8 weeks of visits with her & doing her tests, she still did not have a surgery date for me. Every appointment she was 2 hours late When I left Moffitt & went to another surgeon, on my very first appointment I got a surgery date. Do not allow this woman to drag you thru test after test, or her numerous appointments. Be proactive and see a physician that truly cares about you.
