My Third Spinal Fusion Surgery
Dr. Whitney and his Nurse Practitioner Kristin are very personable, approachable, professional and will listen to you with compassion and superior care. This is my 3rd Spinal Fusion from Dr. Whitney and his excellent team. I have had one neck fusion and two lower spine fusion surgeries from Dr. Whitney, my most recent back fusion surgery completed 3 weeks ago. All three surgeries were new surgeries, none of them repeat surgeries. All aspects of my experiences with Dr. Whitney and his Team have been very professional. This includes scheduling, MRI appointments, Pre-Surgery and Post Surgery meetings and instructional consultations, care in the hospital and follow up post surgery visits. Spine Surgery is no fun, however, Dr. Whitney and his superior staff take some of the anxiety and worry away because they listen, inform, and assure you of what procedures and care will take place. I am recovering well. I couldn't be happier with Dr. Whitney and his entire staff.

Seriously amazing
Dr. Whitney did my L4-S1 fusion. I'm still recovering but my life is already changed for the better. I can fully move my leg again, and many other small symptoms have improved. What's even more impressive is that it feels like Dr. Whitney did it all in the gentlest, but most complete and sturdy way. Fusion recovery is no fun but Dr Whitney made it as easy as possible. No unnecessary moves. In and out. I'm still in shock of how well this has gone so far. I wouldnt hesitate a second to recommend Dr. Whitney to anyone.

The best!
Love Doctor Whitney! He is so kind. I had two surgeries. Doctor Whitney made it as pleasant as possible. He even sat down and watched Top Gun Maverick for a while with me when he was making his rounds. Kristin Martin is wonderful too! She’s so on top of things.

He doesn’t care about his patients!!
He relocated my baclofen pump just for it to stab through my skin not even a month later! It’s grinding against the inside of my hip almost every movement I make, and he had me drive 60 miles to show up at an appointment just for him to say “I’m sorry but I won’t move it again even if it’s hanging out of your stomach”

He is an excellent surgeon . He explained the procedure well. Afterwards though he pushed my appt for follow up to August 9 2021 from June 22 2021 's date of surgery. I felt this was a long time to wait to make sure I was healing correctly. I guess I'll see him on August ninth then.

I'm not much into writing reviews but I'd like to say that you can't get any better then Dr. Whitney. My sister, wife and recently myself have had spinal surgery by him. He's fantastic and the nicest man you will have the privilege to meet. He and his NP and the entire nursing staff on the 8th floor of Sacred Heart Hospital went above and beyond to make me comfortable. Doctor Whitney is a skill and gifted surgeon. I would highly recommend him as would the rest of my family.

I have battled a debilitating and deteriorating condition of my lumbar spine for 12+ years. I felt like a hot potato being tossed from one specialist to the next, not really understanding if my condition was too complex for those, or I would consume too much of their time. I was finally able to consult with Dr. Whitney who immediately set about developing a game plan for the repair of my back. Because it would include a very involved surgery, he was thorough and did not rush me through the decision process. I had the surgery early March this year and what a blessing it has been. His OR nurse and office nurse assistants have been amazing in quickly addressing my post-op questions and show a high level of concern with my overall healing and improvement. Outstanding experience! I only wish I could have found him sooner!

Had laminectomy on thoracic spine by Dr. Whitney in March 2020. Had seen him for initial consultation in January 2020. Dr. Whitney took alot of time explaining the situation w/my spine and what he felt needed to be done. I did not feel he was rushing through the appt and appreciated the time he spent w/me in the initial consultation and explained things very well.. I also really liked his assistant, Kristin (not sure if I spelled her name correctly.) She is very knowledgable in her job and had alot of patience w/all my questions.

Dr. Whitney operated on my husband 9/11/18, 4 fusions. My husband went back in 11/4/19 and was told that 2 of the fusions failed and had to be redone. He said scheduling would let us know when. My husband's pain is unbearable. After more than 10 phone calls to the scheduler, she finally called back 12/10/19 and the earliest surgery can be done is 1/30/20! Because of the nature of the surgery, they need 2 surgeons and the general surgeon is not available until then. This is Spokane, WA, and there is no other surgeons? My husband is bedridden, if he moves at all, the pain is a nightmare. The scheduler was rude, I'm sure she didn't like us calling so much, but she never returned calls when she said she would. We like Dr. Whitney, but we are worried about the unprofessional actions of his scheduler.Unfortunately, my husband is a veteran and this is through the VA. Is this any way to treat a veteran? Seems like service is lacking here. We will refer Dr. Whitney, but caution staffing.
