Dr. Nathaniel Tindel - Opinion of a Patient
I've known Dr. Tindel for about 6 years as he performed a (very successful) spinal surgery on me. I'll always be grateful to him and his entire ofc. staff and surgical team for getting me through that whole experience. While on a ski trip in Dec. '24, I had a bad crash where I was hit in the back by an out-of-control skier who was traveling at a high rate of speed. I never saw or heard it coming and I was in a great deal of pain and discomfort. When I got back to NY I immediately called Dr. Tindel as I knew that he was 100% the person to see as I have enormous trust in him as an orthopedist, as well as a person who cares deeply about his patients. After (5) Xrays of my spine and subsequent MRI's, we were able to determine that fortunately there were no fractures and that I had dodged a major bullet with the incident. Knowing Dr. Tindel left no stone unturned gave me peace of mind that I was going to be OK after a very traumatic time. I can't recommend him highly enough.

An excellent orthopedic surgeon
Dr Tindel performed spinal surgery on me a few years back. He has an incredible bedside manner. He was a very caring, patient and skilled surgeon. He spent quite a bit of time discussing the surgery with me and answering all my questions. The surgery was very successful and I have been pain free ever since. He personally called me one week after the surgery to check on me. I am writing this review now because even though am no longer his patient, he was kind enough to call me to discuss some recent films that I sent him. He gave me advice and even recommended a surgeon to contact. I feel so fortunate to have met him and to have him as my surgeon.

Thank you Dr Tindel!!
Dr Tindels explanation and transparency around my herniated disc issue helped me gain his trust immediately. I was seeing another orthopedic doctor for a year and having surgery never sat right because it was feeling forced with no clarity around my options. After my first visit with Dr Tindel I got a call from him the following week just to check how I was doing and that gesture alone made me knew I was doing the right thing switching doctors. Dr Tindel earned my trust and would end up doing my surgery, relieving me of a years long battle with a bulging disc in my L5-S1 area. I’m a mother of two young boys and I’m very happy that after my full recovery I can truly enjoy my time at home with my family again. Thank you again to Dr Tindel and Norma, his amazing office manager for making this whole experience way more pleasant!

Went to his location at Jacobi hospital , waited 2 months for this appointment, they tried to trick me and just talk with the RA nurse ! They said tindell was outside the office, he was just waiting in a back room to avoid patients , came in, was very dismissive of my questions and was in a rush , perhaps because I have Medicaid I was treated with this level of disrespect . In my opinion I would classify this as not receiving a proper medical evaluation due to my income , which I believe is borderline discriminatory

Review of Dr Nathaniel Tindel
Awesome Back Surgeon!! He is truly Amazing!! His back surgery 4 years ago was fantastic after I had a horrible surgery by another doctor that left me in more pain then before the surgery. Since I have curvature of the spine, I developed new back problems. He was able to arrange for me to get an MRI ASAP. Based on the MRI, I need surgery in 3 locations. However, he showed and discussed with me the MRI, gave me several options including not having surgery, and he let me make the decision regarding the surgery without forcing me to do anything. Dr Tindel is also very sweet and caring, and is reachable 7 days a week. I So Highly Recommend Him!!

Amazing Doctor and Rare Find
Dr. Tindel is a rare find and a true patient advocate. He listens, more than I have ever seen in a doctor, is thorough, and is never rushed. I have had two surgeries with him, with excellent results. He has solved two unique back problems of mine with success, problems that I had seen numerous other doctors about. Each appointment he does a physical exam, reviews the MRI with you, and ensures your symptoms correlate with what is seen on the MRI. He assumes nothing, verifies every component, and treats each case as unique. He is accessible anytime you have questions, and calls you back on weekends and evenings to ensure all your questions are answered. He has not lost sight of why he went into this field, he is dedicated to helping others and takes each case very personally. He is a unique surgeon as he wrote a book on how 80% of back pain can be solved non-surgically. The fact that a surgeon wrote a book to help patients avoid unnecessary surgery says it all. Dr. Tindel is a life saver
The best spinal surgeon you can possibly find. He literally saved my life after I broke my back at work. Don’t waste your time with another spinal surgeon. Just go right to him. Best office staff I’ve ever dealt with as well. Thank you Dr. Tindel for giving me my life back.

Best Surgeon
Dr. Tindel saved the day for me. I was in the ER at NYU and called his office and he saw me right away. I was in unbelievable nerve pain across my neck, shoulders and right arm. He and his staff couldn’t have been any nicer or more helpful. They rearranged his surgical schedule to get me in immediately for a 3 level cervical fusion that probably saved my life. I had a huge disk fragment sitting on my spinal cord. Dr. Tindel did the surgery and came by every morning to check in on me. I woke up from surgery and was out of pain immediately. I am now a few weeks post surgery and my recovery is going great. I am forever grateful to Dr. Tindel!

Best orthopedic surgeon and human being ever!
Dr. TIndel performed cervical spinal laminectomies and fusion on me. He was the most competent, nice, low key surgeon I've ever dealt with. He took time to explain, to listen, to do thorough exams and to treat me like a person. I can't say enough good things about him. He is trustworthy, knowledgeable, and interesting. The incisions/post op scars are almost invisible; function in my neck is fantastic.

Dr. Tindel was never rushed and gave me his full attention when I visited. My first visit he told me I didn't need surgery at all and helped with a non-surgical plan. Two years later the story was different. He performed surgery and from one day post-op I was in less pain and able to move more freely than I had for the months prior. He and his office continue to answer all my questions and make time when I ask for it.

I've never felt so great after the surgery!
I cannot thank enough Dr Tindel for my back surgery and extremely fast and smooth recovery. Dr Tindel was always there to address all of my concerns that on the day of the surgery I had 0 worries or issues. Special thanks to Annie for helping me with the whole organization of the surgery and the preop in extremely timely manner.

Dr. Tindel is a godsend - he saved my ability to move and use my right foot & leg. He and his office staff will make you feel seen and heard and they truly care for you and for your healing. Dr. Tindel spent a significant amount of time with me during my first visit and, by watching how I moved, was able to correctly identify the injury in my spine - something that a MRI and multiple other doctors were not able to do. He was so thorough and walked me through all of my options and the risks as at this point I was 6 weeks out from injury which could impact results if I chose surgery (he laid out all of the options and let me choose). I ultimately decided to do surgery for this injury and I am so grateful I did. I am back to having full use of my leg - something I know for a fact I would not have had a not gone to see Dr. Tindel. If you are having any back/spine/paralysis issues, go see Dr. Tindel ASAP!! His office staff is absolutely amazing, too - they walked me through everything and w

I have been a patient for 7 years and had 2 surgeries (neck and back). The neck was 7 years ago and was so successful that I was back to work in a few days and back on the basketball court in 3 months. I had back surgery 2 months ago which was very complicated but I am starting to feel better although I have much therapy to go. Dr. Tindel and his staff are very kind, knowledgeable and responsive to every need. Their care is unmatched in the industry

I've never left a review for anything in my life but I've always read hundreds of testimonies before choosing medical care providers. So I write this review in hopes to pay it forward to those like myself who need to hear a firsthand account. I came to Dr. Tindel by recommendation from both my doctor and family friend. Prior to seeing him, my MRI showed a severe herniation at L5/S1 and attempts at conservative care (PT, epidural, pain meds) did nothing to alleviate the extreme sciatic pain that was ruining my life. I arrived to his office nearly immobile in desperate need of surgery and 24hrs later I left his operating table (microdiscectomy) and was able to sit, walk, and climb stairs 100% pain-free. He's an incredible doctor who takes the time to listen to you, explain your options, but most importantly he truly cares about the long-term outcome of his patients. If you're looking for a spine surgeon, save yourself the stress of reading another hundred reviews, he is your guy.

Just a fabulous doctor in every way. Bedside manners, patience withhis patients, and incredible surgery. Performed 3 spine/ disc major surgeries on me, and he has virtually saved my life, by not only completing those 3 with sucess, but he noticed a haze over my kidney, and said, to be safe, lets do another MRI,...that showed something encased in kidney, then Tindel immediately call and sent me nearby to his kidney reciommendated doctor, they decided to remove it rather thatdo a biopsy, because if a kidney HAS cancer and its poked/biopsied, that cancer could spread, so days later I had it removed and it sure enough was 80 % encased with a mass of stage 1 cancer., so, Dr Tndel more than likely and by his keen viewing of MRI's, saved my life. Great staff with Annie the best assistant on earth, as she knows and does everything imaginable, and with a quick and direct approach and quick results and help. She is amazing as is all in the staff and I recommend them to ANYONE with any back issu

I had a spinal fusion on March 12, after fracturing my spine. I was able to return to work the first week of April. My recovery has been incredible. Today at my appointment I was cleared to resume all regular activity. The scar on my back is barely noticeable. I had my son take a picture of it to show me and I thought he missed the spot because it is so thin. I couldn't be happier with the surgery performed by Dr. Tindel and his team. A special shout-out to Dr. Mackey who has the most amazing bedside manner and had to put up with me when I was miserable in the hospital!
