I had 2 previous colonoscopies w/ Dr. Susnow in 2015 & 2020. Both went OK. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy months in advance for 7:30 AM on 01/29/2024. When I got to Boulder Community Health hospital I could not check in as the check-in kiosk informed me that I was too early for my 2:15 PM appointment w/ Dr. Susnow. My kind neighbor took me home. I called Boulder Valley Gastroenterology & was told Dr. Susnow was not at the hospital but that “there was a cancellation” & that I should come back to the hospital. My neighbor took me back to the hospital around 8:15 AM. I had a brief wait before Dr. Otrok performed my colonoscopy. Dr. Otrok, the anesthesiologist, & the entire staff were professional, friendly & courteous but Dr. Susnow never showed up that morning. Later I wrote Dr. Susnow asking for an explanation of his no show. His belated response was NOT credible. If you enjoy the colonoscopy prep the way I do (-; , you may want to schedule a physician who will show up.

Dr. Susnow was very knowledgeable and thoughtful in his recommendations for next steps after spending time reviewing my history and listening to current concerns.

I'm not usually one to write a poor review, but this doctor provided some of the most unsympathetic and negligent care, and I feel like anyone who is needing good care should know my experience with him because he wasted several months of my time. I do not recommend seeing him if you need an advocate. My PCP was willing and able to do more than he did and I expect more out of a specialist. I expected him to be my advocate because what I'm dealing with could only be handled by a GI. I asked him for a referral for a colonoscopy because it was HIS advice to have one done as a next step before getting treatment and all he did was write a referral for an appointment with another GI. This means more months of severe pain, which he's aware of. I read someone else's review that said he treated them like a hypochondriac and I couldn't agree more. I would even go as far as saying he probably doesn't treat his female patients seriously, and I've never thought that of a doctor before.

Nathan Susnow preformed an upper endoscopy on my son, Chad.. He did not speak to me nor return calls after the procedure. When I tracked him down two weeks later, he asked how my son was responding to the drugs that he had prescribed. Neither my son nor I had ever seen or heard of any prescriptions. He said that his nurse left a message but couldn't say which phone. Complaints to Endocrinology of the Rockies, his group, went unanswered. Avoid this guy!

My GP urged me to have a routine colonoscopy. Within a few days after being operated on by Doctor Susnow I experienced bloating and a lot of pain. Since space here is limited I will say that after 4 months of pain, breathlessness, nausea, and weight gain The emergency room doctor listened to me and determined that I had a pinched bowel and severe fecal impaction, which could have led to perforation and sepsis. Dr. Susnow treated me as if I was a hypochondraic. Humiliating.
