Dr. Nathan Fierce, DO

My dad had his gallbladder removed. 2 days after surgery, he was still in the hospital crazy bloated and passing out every time he got up. Every Genesis staff member ignored it until my mom put her foot down saying this isn't normal and somethings wrong. Dr's brilliant idea was to open the 71 yr old, super weak at this point, man back up! This time all the way up the middle of his stomach. Cauterized what he could find bleeding inside, stitched him back up...this time with a drain tube coming from inside his stomach because he was internally bleeding so heavily. Next day he needs a blood transfusion and he tell us his kidneys are failing and he needs dialysis. We tell him we want to be transferred to Iowa City...FINALLY get him air lifted and they say he doesn't need dialysis...weird. Took 6 weeks in the hospital, 60 transfusions and finding out he has a rare blood clot deficiency to get the bleeding stopped. Not sure what Dr did to him to cause SO much bleeding. 100% don't recommend.

Everyone says Trama Surgeons have no personality. But my son n must’ve brought it out in him. I’m going to visit him personally with my son soon and thank him.

Dr. FIERCE gave scary news in an unacceptable manner. Before surgery to help my mother get rid of a serious infection, he decided to say "it won't help, and you should talk with hospice". This information was only heard by her of course, so it sent her into a depressed state while waiting for that day's surgery. He then postponed the surgery until the following day at 4 p.m., which meant no pain medicine for her all day and no food. She's in extreme pain all the time, you think they could have tried for a morning surgery knowing her pain levels. I don't recommend Dr. FIERCE for anything and we will make sure we go to Genesis next time just to avoid the chance of getting him again. He's lucky I was not in the room. Use him at your own risk. 2/10 boo

Dr. Fierce did a great job taking my appendix out during an emergency. He was very professional and straightforward when I asked him some questions I had. If anyone has to undergo an emergency appendectomy (fingers crossed you actually don't) I hope Dr. Fierce will be your surgeon for the operation.

Dr. Fierce removed two lipomas and left unsightly puckering with one of the scars rubbing against by breast, making it difficult to wear an underwire. He apparently was not thinking about a woman's anatomy so it would not affect that. Additionally, when sewing up the skin, both incisions, he left puckering at both sites. Surely he saw that at the time of surgery, (I did immediately after surgery) but he did not fix it. I am very disappointed in the outcome and will not be returning to him. After several second opinions, looks like a plastic surgeon is my only option.

Dr. Fierce is an excellent surgeon. I had a ruptured appendix before I even got to Illini Hospital. I went to surgery pretty quickly after that. Dr. Fierce explained everything that had happened right away. He has an great bedside manner and is very skilled.

Dr Fierce is a great surgeon he has operated on both my Daughter and myself always explains well what is happening.

Surgery for hernia’s. I found Dr to b very professional, kind, caring and skilled in his craft! I highly recommend this surgeon. He also removed a non functioning gall bladder from my mother and all went well. My Mom is 96. I have all the faith in the world in Dr Firrce! In my book he is the best!!

Excellent surgeon, great communicator, good follow-up
