Dr. Nasser El, MD

I was hospitalized following reverse shoulder replacement . There were issues with my pain management control and he was the doctor that came in ,listened , and actually was able to help me through those first couple of days post surgery. Can’t say the same for my surgeon. He was caring . I would reccommend him to anyone and if I lived closer would ask him to be my internist !

Dr. El-Okdi was great at explaining my condition and plan while I was at the hospital. He was courteous and had great bedside manner. He went through what to do at home. He arranged for close follow up after my discharge.

I was hospitalized. 3 different doctors advised that they had flexibility in considering my discharge timing. Later, a nurse said that the doctors were asking for my thoughts about discharge. I said that because I was still very weak, I would prefer to stay one more day. The nurse said that she would communicate with them. Then, Dr. El-Okdi (not one of the 3 doctors mentioned above and whom I had never met) came into my room. He said that I needed to be discharged immediately. When I raised a question about the timing, he said impatiently that “this is non-negotiable”. Then, the same nurse came back in 30 minutes and was shocked to know my discharge because she was still waiting for a discharge decision from other doctors and he did not inform her of my discharge. When he said “this is non-negotiable,” I doubt that he actually had discussed it with other doctors. What he stated also contravened messages from other doctors. He needs training in attitude and empathy towards patients.
