I actually liked the staff and the person who interviewed me prior to my meeting with Dr. Kanen for the first time. Finally, Dr. Kanen came in and spent a short amount of time with me. I was disappointed only because I had difficulty understanding her because of her strong accent; I had to say 'what'? several times. She may be nice, but I did not like the fact that she requested 2 blood tests for me before I even got to talk to her about being a new patient - about anything. So, I left with a big question mark over my head! I'm in the terrible position of having to find a PCP because my doctor of 35 years is retiring :( .... but I can't settle. Communication is important.

Drove 5 1/2 hours. Was seen for 5 min told we don’t do that here can’t help. Charged ins. Didn’t ask for $ then wanted to send me to collections for $35.00 Pitiful/greedy

Office staff: the front desk person was not wearing her mask properly (nose exposed) and a coworker, 2 seats away was unmasked. I said something to the front desk person who became defensive and stated: "We are tested every week, and together 24/7." We know, testing does NOT prevent COVID, and masks, if properly worn, are the best defense until the vaccine is more widely available. I responded: "Well, if you are together 24/7 then you must all live together!" She did not reply NOR raise her mask to cover her nose. Medical office staff should be setting an example to clients regarding COVID prevention protocols. Since this experience, my 80 year old relative will not be visiting Dr. Kanan's office again.

Dr. Kanen is absolutely horrible. My first clue was how dirty the office is. I don't think the rug has ever been cleaned, ever. The office staff, though very nice in person, never ever return phone calls. So they don't answer the phone, they ask that you leave a message and then never return the calls no matter how many times you call or how important the calls are. But Dr. Kanen is something else! I've yet to meet her, but her PA's injected a drug into my elderly friend that is suppose to be injected every 6 months. They did it after 2 months! I contacted Dr. Kanen via Sutter Health email and explained my concern for potential harm in giving her too much of this injection. She answered with she would check with her staff and I've not heard back from her and that was almost 2 months ago. I have sent her 2 emails since and Sutter Health has sent her a message to answer my question. Still no response.

Dr. Kanen is a great doctor who listens to your issues and follows through with the necessary steps. SHE DESERVES 5 STARS, BUT I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE ELSE BECAUSE OF THE DISORGANIZED FRONT STAFF. Front office staff (not all) are extremely disorganized, rude, and need training on how customer service/managing an office! Maybe she needs to hire an office manager, or if she has one, that person is the problem.
