Lack of Availability or Doesn't Care
Canceled my six month follow up with her the Monday 2/13/23 after the chiefs won the Superbowl due to a "family emergency". Paired me with her front desk to reschedule and they told me soonest would be 5 months out. This was following a 3 day at home sleep test, which followed a in person EEG in September. Yeilding no results; however, I am still suffering nocturnal seizures at almost a bi-monthly basis. She orders a weeklong in person sleep test at the hospital. I ask if we can talk about these past tests and what will change with an in person one. She cannot be reached even for a phone call, unless you have an appointment which is at the earliest 5 months out. But you can speak to a nurse practitioner and re explain your 2-year seizure journey to someone new whenever you want. She cannot be a consistent/contactable person throughout your neurological journey. This is hopefully a reflection of our health care system in general, and not her personal motivation to help her patients?

I have been a patient of Dr. Hammond's for years and I really appreciate her. She listens to my concerns and values my input into my treatment. She helped me make a medication change when I shared I was having side-effects from a previous medication. Dr. Hammond is always friendly and even willing to offer referrals and recommendations for issues outside of my epilepsy.

Dr. Hammond is compassionate and intelligent. She understands the effects of seizures and epileptic syndromes and how individuals are personally impacted. Dr. Hammond speaks to you person to person; not doctor to specimen. I highly recommend her to anyone and everyone needing answers.

Patronizing or at best, placating. Not interested in anything other than the next drug on the list. Won't hesitate to accost you for wasting her time or having the audacity to have input into your own treatment. Get in, get out, next patient.
