I first tore my ACL and had surgery February 2014 by a different surgeon. I was referred to Dr. Hallal in December 2018 when I tore it again. Every visit I had with him was very short and he rushed out the door, not really explaining anything. I should have taken the hint and seen another doctor but I went with him anyways for surgery in January. Post-surgery I had some concerns where my knee wasn't feeling stable and was slipping, but he disregarded it and said I just needed to keep going to physical therapy and it would be fine. Nine months later my ACL is torn for the third time and the screws placed from his surgery are coming out. I am seeing a different doctor now who has revealed that Dr. Hallal did not create new bone tunnels for graft placement and just reused the ones from my first surgery that were misplaced. Now I need 2 more surgeries, one to repair the tunnels and one later to place a patellar graft. Don’t see Dr. Hallal if you can help it.

I was referred to Dr Hallal by my first doctor at Inova Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. I was seen by Dr. Hallal within a week of being referred to him. At the first appointment, he said i am confirming what my partner said to you. That I was a candidate for Total Knee Replacement. I was immediately scheduled for surgery within my schedule and not the doctors. Dr Hallal was great and did an excellent job on my surgery. I had complications with the pain management and he was there until we found the right set of meds that would help with the pain. He kept me longer in the hospital to make sure I responded to the meds well before going home. After I got home, I still had swelling which was concerning he ordered and ultrasound to rule out a blood clot. No matter when I call the office the front desk associate and the nurse go above and beyond to get you comfortable and moving again. I highly recommend Dr Hallal.

Let me start by saying Dr Hallal’s office staff was outstanding. Dr Hallal was a waste of time, and the INOVA system has been a nightmare to work with. Dr Hallal took x-rays if my shoulder (a shoulder I’ve been having problems with for almost a year) and told me he didn’t understand why I’d come to see him and that I shouldn’t see another doctor. What kind of dr says that to their patient?

Do not see under any circumstances: 1. Didn't tell me BOTH bones in my wrist had broken until a month after surgery. 2. Walked out the door during an appt as my husband asked a question, barely answering, never returning. 3. I was 8 minutes late for an appt. He had left the office for the day despite knowing a patient was scheduled and refused to come back even when the head of the department called him. I have ZERO confidence that my wrist was operated on properly and had to change doctors.

My mother broke her arm in October 2015. Dr. Hallal was referred by a close friend whom he took care of her mother and father with back and hip problems. My mom, 85, was very happy with the way she was treated and she enjoyed every visit to Dr Hallal office. Now she made a full recovery without surgery thanks to Dr. Hallal and his friendly staff.
