Dr. Mubina Gaffar - Extraordinary!!
For most of the past year (2023), Dr. Gaffar has been not only our pulmonologist, but more importantly, a real advocate for my wife's treatment for Myasthenia Gravis. Time and again, Dr. Gaffar insisted on a more extensive plan and more specialized care. She was the most visible among a team of 4 or 5 doctors, and she could always be depended on to give us an accurate update on the wife's condition. No wonder that I took to calling her 'our angel!!'

I wish we could give her 10 stars
Dr. Gaffar is a top notch pulmonologist! My husband has been treated by her for a number of years and she is first an excellent diagnostician and then follows thru with appropriate state of the art treatment. She never rushes us and always answers questions thoroughly. We are lucky we found her and I highly recommend her!

I Never recommend this office!
The Front office personnel are very incompetent. Never get back to you if you leave a message! They kept changing your appointment which you cannot keep track of it. There is NO communication between The Doctor & patient!

Wonderful Pulmonologist
Dr. Gaffar is an absolutely wonderful pulmonologist. She is caring, knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, thorough and a fabulous woman. She has been treating me for some years now, and I couldn't be happier to be her patient. I highly recommend her. In addition, she has a great staff. They are very kind and extremely efficient. One of the best office staffs, ever. They too get 5 stars

2021, I arrived to my appointment having had shortness of breath for a few months. Naturally, I was eager to find a remedy, to which she replied, “I do not have a magic wand”. This response, and others, during my appointment displayed a profound lack of empathy, compassion, and professionalism. You can find plenty of other competent pulmonologists in the area for treatment who do have her personality flaws.

Dr. Gaffar has been treating me since we met at Hoag Hospital where I had been admitted in December 2017 with pneumonia. For years I have had COPD and emphysema, and I have had half my right lung removed.... in other words a difficult patient. Dr. Gaffar is VERY knowledgeable, a wonderful physician who is gently persuasive in steering one to make good decisions. I resisted pulmonary rehabilitation she suggested, but over the course of 2-3 appointments with her decided to do what she was suggesting. Best thing I've ever done. For me it's a shame she isn't also my family physician and is "only" treating my lungs.....she is just terrific. I couldn't recommend her more to anyone with any pulmonary issue.

Dr Gaffar refused to provide me with my diagnosis over the phone while I was out of town for work for two weeks. She was evasive and rude to my wife. I would never refer this doctor to anyone I care about. I felt she was abusing her power as a doctor by withholding my medical information from me claiming that it is office policy to only give information in person forcing another office visit. Her lack of empathy for my condition is shocking to me and my family.

I feel very lucky to have seen Dr. Gaffar. While she was extremely knowledgeable, she also took an inordinate amount of time with me and made sure all of my questions were answered. And, on a separate note, she also referred me to a very competent pediatric pulmonologist for my daughter when she developed asthma, and for that I am grateful.
