Excellent surgeon
I went there having the worst pain of my life being 3 day post-op from a salpingectomy in another hospital. Dr. Gilmour and Dr. Charron with all the staff from 4th Floor to OR worked completely professional, they were all comprehensive and a great support all the time I was there. They explained everything to me and to my husband, all the processes they was going to do to find whatever that was making me feel like that. At the end it come up I had a bladder injury, they repaired and literally saved my life. Me and my husband are both great full for the great personal of the Naval Medical Center, from ER to OR, but mostly to Dr. Gilmour and Dr. Charron. Thanks both for everything.

Repair Ventral Hernia (No Laterality)
Dr Gilmour was a referral from my Primary Care Provider. I was seen quickly as I have a history of a Hernia. He has the most professional demeanor. Explained what was happening and what he was suggesting to correct the issue. Scheduled surgery quickly and again he addressed everything again; answered every single question even though I had probably asked it repeatedly at each visit and again the day of surgery.I was nervous and he put my mind at ease. My surgery was a long one but such a SUCCESS! He is a skilled Surgeon and handled my case like no other. There were more Hernias than showed on the CT. I know if anyone Active Duty or Retired would ask me-Dr Gilmour would be that Surgeon if they had a situation. I wish him MUCH SUCCESS.

Great Surgeon, Great Dr.
My husband was having an angiogram done, and i was supposed to sign the consent form, i was very uncomfortable, and wasn't sure about the procedure, Dr. Gilmore took the time to come to my husbands room, and answer all of my questions, and my sister in-laws questions over the phone, he's a very compassionate, caring, and dedicated Doctor, he makes you feel very comfortable, and makes sure all of your questions and concerns, are answered. He has a wonderful bed side manner. I would highly recommend Dr. Gilmore to anyone that's having surgery.

Dr. Gilmour graduated from Rosalind Franklin University's Chicago Medical School and completed general surgery residency at the University of Kansas in Wichita. He is an active duty Navy physician practicing general surgery at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He enjoys rock climbing and is a published novelist.
