Dr. Moon Ja Kim is an exceptional psychiatrist and human being. I have known her since the very start of her career. She lives for others. She worries about others. She is deeply spiritual, but in an extremely positive way (I am a strict Roman Catholic). Her ways are right, if only you will listen to her sage words of advice, which are life-saving. She is the most gifted psychotherapist and psychopharmacologist I have ever known, and I am a fellow psychiatrist. She is a godsend! Only people on the wrong side of what is right will criticize her.

She inaccurately diagnosed me, leading to heavy dosages of medication that caused me to gain 30+ lbs. It took years of therapy to undo her damage. She will parhologize normal behavior/reaction to circumstances because she’s afraid to admit that she doesn’t understand something or made a wrong diagnosis. You’re made to feel like a lab experiment, with no empathy or compassion. I would be dead if I kept on seeing Dr. Kim and I hope that karma comes for her and that she experiences a FRACTION of what her patients go through on a daily basis.

I wouldn't go anywhere else!
Dr. Kim brought my autistic teenage son from needing full-time nursing to being mostly independent. His behavior went from violent and erratic to calm, controlled--to the point he was able to process cues and learn work steps in his new workshop. Dr. Kim is a master at psychopharmacology, and she takes time to figure out the BEST med combo. THANK YOU!

kind, thoughtful, compassionate doctor
Telehealth
I think she's a very kind and thoughtful doctor. One of the few doctors to take my medical concerns seriously. Yes, she is often late, but with doctors, that's usually a sign of compassion and means she takes time with her patients. I have seen her both in person before the pandemic and via telehealth since.

Do NOT go
She was late for every appointment, truly. This is not an overexaggeration. On Zoom during the shutdown, I waited 45 minutes in the meeting room until she showed up. One time I was in the office and the lights turned off because she was THAT late and everyone in the office went home. She also wrote in my CHART that I have addiction issues because as someone with DIAGNOSED fibromyalgia, I'd tried smoking weed in the past for pain relief, to which I told her it did not help me and I could count on two hands how many times I'd smoked. In my chart, she has tainted it and said I have a history of substance abuse. Also, did I mention when I had tried smoking, I was living in the NETHERLANDS where weed is LEGAL. She has hurt my view of psychiatrists completely.

Diagnosed me with ADD for "being incredibly impatient" because I was annoyed that she was late for our meeting that was during my scheduled lunch break from work.

Please see someone else. Dr. Kim should not be in the mental health space. On multiple occasions, she has tried to push her religious beliefs onto me and has told me that I struggle with certain disorders because I am not close with God. She is frequently late to appointments. She has little to no sense of empathy or emotional intelligence.

I thoroughly enjoy working with Dr. Kim. Yes, the wait times can be long, but she's only slotted to speak with a patient for 20 minutes. Sometimes, if the patient is having a rough go of things, as I have, she gives them more time. She stands because she has bad pain if she sits too long. She is wise and knowledgeable and kind. Most of these reviews don't acknowledge that Dr. Kim is a human being. She is kind and demure, but she doesn't take flack from anyone. She doesn't have to. Another thing to consider is that all of these patients writing reviews are mental health patients. Take it with a grain of salt.

I'm going to have to agree with every one of these reviews. I saw her for several years. Not ONCE, was she ever on time. I even tried to schedule her first appointment of the day... she was STILL late. The final straw was as I arrived at her office (Waukesha) from my home near the Milwaukee airport, I was told she wasn't feeling well ... could I come back this afternoon? What???? Nope. That was the last time for me. I would never recommend her to anybody. I think she has her own issues that need to be dealt with.

I've been seeing her for a year and half, she's been late for every appointment without fail,. She insists I need to get more exercise despite the fact I do manual labor 50 hours a week on average. every time I show up she asks me about my hobbies (as if it matters) and every time I have to reassure her that collecting guns does not make me violent. and worst of all she sent me to an awful therapist and now that I stopped seeing him she said "let me know when you're ready to see a therapist agai

One and done. I saw Dr Kim one time, and it was horrible! I was so desperate for help, and I felt like she was disrespectful and rude. She told me that she knew I had ADD from the moment she saw me, and accused me of misusing my medication. I was crying, and she just seemed annoyed, with no compassion whatsoever. I almost never post reviews, but I hope this can help just one person who has mental illness from feeling as horrible as I did.

Literally the worst doctor I have ever seen in my life. She has been late for every single appointment that I have had with her. I don't mean like a few minutes either. The first visit she was an hour and 45 minutes late, and the second visit she was 48 minutes late. Apparently she thinks that her schedule or plans for the day are the only ones that matter. She is also very cold in terms of comfortability. She stands, not sits to listen to you. She offers nothing objective.
