Dr. Monica Melgar, MD

l have complex medical problems as complications of lifelong disability issues related to congenital spine and acquired multi-joint and musculoskeletal issues (secondary to the highly complex spine problems). I saw Dr. Melgar recently for a first appointment 'meet and greet' after my Nurse Practitioner who had cared for me so well for 8 yrs moved out of state and referred me to see Dr. Melgar. She was compassionate, a good listener, while not readily highly knowledgeable about the issues I am dealing with, she was willing to listen to me for an extended period of time, not rush me through what I wanted to tell her for continuity of my care, for the sake of getting to her next patient, and conveyed a willingness to learn what is needed to assist me in order for me to acquire excellent care, whether by her for now or whichever provider begins caring for me down the line to take over my previous NP's patient load. She deserves an excellent health grade for this

I’ve been dealing with a painful sinus and ear infection for several weeks now. I’ve been seen by other doctors who keep writing me prescriptions for antibiotics that have not been effective. I was seen by Dr. Melgar and she took the time to really listen to me about what I’ve been dealing with. She ordered labs the same day as my appointment and referred me to an ENT. I have felt extremely defeated about the situation and Dr. Melgar made me feel seen, really hopeful, and confident that I’m going to finally get some help. I look forward to continuing care with her.
