Dr. Monica Aszterbaum, MD

Suffered from blood clots in my lungs at a young age. Hormonal birth control was deemed the primary root cause. I went to see Dr. A to establish care. I had no option but the copper IUD as a form of non-hormonal birth control. Fast forward a couple years - ~35 day cycles, 8-12 days of menstruating and extreme depression. Well, that’s not normal. Dr. A said it was typical of her patients on this IUD and it’s why she didn’t like it. Advocated for myself to remove it. She advised me not to. I knew my body wanted to be all natural so I scheduled to remove it anyway. Even when I removed it she told me to consider other birth control options in the future. Well, I’m not going to risk killing myself so no thank you. Doesn’t listen to patients. Doesn’t read medical history. Don’t trust her. She is not your teammate, just another doctor with a big ego.

She is personable and so understanding of women's health as we age and menopause/hormonal issues. She doesn't rush and really just listens and offers solutions. I highly recommend her.

Dr Aszterbaum is amazing because she takes the time to know her patients on a personal level. She has taken care of me for the past 15 years and I will follow her anywhere she goes.

The Doctor was very calming and soothing for my panicked 13 year old. I truly appreciate her professionalism and tenderness towards my child during a very embarrassing procedure.

I would recommend Dr Aszterbaum to any woman looking for a smart, compassionate, personable OBGYN. However, this was my second time seeing her and unlike my first visit, she was overbooked and I did not get the time with her that I needed. She was running an hour late and my appointment was extremely rushed. I don’t see any of this as being her fault because she is very competent in her appointments so whoever is doing the scheduling is overbooking her. I found this to be disappointing and so I hope this is resolved with Memorial Care in the future.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Aszterbaum for many years now. She is a top notch physician who is dedicated to the health and happiness of all her patients!!

I love Dr Aszterbaum …. she truly is the best! So compassionate, gentle and understanding ~ I always feel like a sister when I’m in a room with her. So relatable!

She is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, good bedside manners, puts you at ease and makes the examination painless, she spends the time explaining and she’s there for you. I wish I had known her when she started practicing.

I was a patient of Dr. Azterbaum's for 15 years and very disappointed in her after I underwent a biopsy for a lump in my breast and she read the biopsy report WRONG. Dr. Azterbaum told me I had a stage 0, non-invasive breast cancer and would not need chemotherapy and she referred me to a general surgeon to remove my lump - the general surgeon specialized in hernias. Thank God I had the intuition to send my biopsy results to a family physician who read the results correctly and told me I had an aggressive invasive breast cancer and would need to be referred to an oncologist and receive chemo immediately. Dr. Azterbaum was careless in her review of my biopsy results and reckless in her recommendation. Had I listened to her, I would have been in big trouble.

Great doctor, caring and thorough. Short wait to see her. Nice office.
