Wasted my time
Saw this man (doesn’t deserve to be called a Dr.) after he cancelled on me. He was 25 min late, and didn’t seem to care. Was told both legs would be done with an emg, even after staff called him to confirm. Needless to say after he lied to me and said no both legs can’t be done I walked out. His staff doesn’t communicate with patients and are extremely rude. I told him he is a joke and be sure that I will talk to someone else. I knew from the day that I was first scheduled with this guy that something was off. I should’ve waited the month to get into see the other Dr that I’ve seen before. This guy is rude, narcissistic and his staff follows him exactly. I should’ve read more on here and cancelled on him. This guy needs to have his license taken away because all he cares about is getting paid. Sadly I will have to interact with his staff again bc the other Dr I will see is in the same area. Awful that patients who need help just get brushed off without someone to help them.

Rude, impatient, mean
When I saw DR. Afzal for the first time yesterday, he was very brusk to the point of being rude while asking me questions. I had to repeat things to him because he didn't listen to me when I explained things. He seemed completely annoyed with me and made that very obvious. I would never never recommend this doctor.

Rushed appointments and no diagnosis
I never got a diagnosis from him when I first started having seizures. I had my first one and got an EEG done, but was never put on any medication to help prevent any possible further ones. Well 7 months later I had a seizure while driving which caused me to be out of work for 3 months due to breaking my ankle, dislocating my knee and tearing tendons as well as scalping myself. I was only put on medication for the seizures by the doctor at the hospital. I would see Afzal every 6 months. After being seizure free for 3 years while on the medication, he weaned me off of them. Well almost a year later, guess what, I had another seizure and had to go back on the medication. Well I cancelled that upcoming appointment that I had scheduled with him 6 months ago and got in to see a new neurologist, who apparently is the only specialized doctor in the northern Illinois area for seizures/epilepsy. And the new doctor is the one that diagnosed me.

The office staff was condescending and rude (one woman in particular) so much so that I am finding another neurologist.

Horrendous. Office staff is rude. Can't manage a simple referral and get nasty when you ask them to correct it. Doctor is very lacidaisical. If you need a neurologist, good luck as choices are limited in Rockford. This doctor and office border on malpractice. Negative stars.

During our visit the doctor was cordial, thorough, professional, and answered questions directly. Dr. Afzal took time to explain and we felt seen, respected and properly diagnosed. We believe he knows his field and is a very good doctor. (We would definitely recommend him and can’t help but wonder if the poor reviews are based on the fact that he is of foreign heritage. If so, their discomfort should not reflect on his competence nor that of his staff.) My husband needed a follow up exam with a neurologist after a medical event. We feel very comfortable and confident that Dr. Afzal is a good physician. The staff was warm, welcoming and efficient. The office was clean and updated. We waited only about a week for an appointment. Seriously, every aspect of our experience was good. Yes, we recommend this doctor.

I have never posted a bad review for anything. I felt compelled, as a healthcare professional myself, to do so. Dr. Afzal was over-all very dismissive, and non- compassionate to the chronic pain I was suffering from. He said "you are doing just fine - see you in 3 months". Nope. He won't. Do not go to this doctor. I have heard good things about his partner however. So sad to have doctors out there such as Afzal. Most doctors are incredible human beings.

*******THIS DOCTOR IS A JOKE******* I have been suffering from seizures for years and I've had one test ran at a hospital and they said nothing was wrong...I had another test ran to see what the cause of my seizures are with this particular "Nuerologist " ...to no avail both tests came back that nothing is wrong with me ...well I'm still having seizures? My primary physician prescribed medication that seems like it is working...but even my primary physician still recommends I get a second op

I was sent to him to seek botox treatments, 4 months later, I still haven't gotten them. I've had to call multiple times to get them to schedule me. One appointment I had with the doctor was 5 minutes long, where he left to take a personal phone call and told me to "suffer until we get you approved." He didn't know the status of my treatment approval, and refused to talk about anything else during the appointment. If you are sent to this office, try to go somewhere else.

I left his office in tears. I was belittled. My diagnosis of epilepsy from 2 years ago was changed to migraines, but I was told the EEG showed epilepsy so he had to leave it even though he thinks it’s migraines but now his recommendation is no driving after 1 episode in 2 years. When I first saw him I had 4 in one month and no recommendation to stop driving. Then he told me to find a new neurologist when I questioned him, nice.

I recently had my initial meeting with Dr. Afzal and he has recommended further testing and assessment. While some reviews regarding Dr. Afzal have been negative, this certainly was not my experience. Dr. Afzal was kind and respectful. He took time to answer all of my questions and concerns. He clearly explained his medical impressions and recommendations for additional testing. Nothing about my experience was negative. I waited no more than 10 minutes to check-in and then be seen by the doctor

Most arrogant Dr I have ever been in contact with. I would stay away from this guy. Calling him a Dr is title he doesn't seem to deserve. It's about the patient sir not about you. I would prefer zero stars.

This doctor is EXTREMELY rude. He also let my husband leave his office with a blood pressure of 197/101. His medical assistant did not care to properly take the blood pressure AND there was a needle and some form of medication left in.the room before we were told to enter. He had no compassion what so ever and he questioned the work of the heart surgeon that saved my husbands life.

I saw this Dr because this is who my insurance covered. Let me start out by saying his beside manner is the worst. I have a services dog. He would not let him any where near me. This man never spoke to me except to have me move. If they could post pic. You would see all the bruises he left on me. I do not bruise Easley and I have them all over my arms and in both hands. It seemed like he enjoyed stabbing me with the needles and each one was done harder than the last.
