From our scheduled appointment time, it took over 2 hours to be seen by the doctor, and the procedure took 5 minutes to complete. When we were first called back to the room for information, 2 rounds of eye drops were done in this cozy dimly lit room which was helpful for a dilated eye. Then we were told we could no longer wait in this room, and that the last set of eye drops would need to be done. We were seated in a very busy hallway where other patients and staff would routinely walk past us. This hallway was not sanitary or sterile and we were not able to see if the staff was taking the correct precautions before they gave the last round of eye drops. Having dilated eyes and being sat in a very bright hallway with other patients walking back and forth for an hour and a half was very frustrating. Finally, after everyone else around us was called into their other rooms we got moved into the procedure room. We were escorted there and were left there for another 20 minutes with no explanation of what to expect, or how long we would be waiting. While we were waiting, other staff members randomly walked into the room to grab medical equipment for other areas. When the DR. finally came in for the procedure, he did not even update us on the condition of the patient. He did his procedure, told us that the patient no longer had the issue she was being seen for, and left. No, follow up questions with us to make sure we understood everything. It was a very cold and frustrating experience. It is very tough as parents of a newborn to be seated and to wait in a hallway especially if we need to tend to the baby while sitting there. It could very quickly become a fire hazard with the patients sitting in the hallway waiting for the next exam room.
