Dr. Mildred Chernofsky, MD

I was referred to her for evaluation of a cyst by both my regular gynecologist and primary care because she is a teacher and lead doctor at one of the best hospitals where I live. I gather she has good tech skills but I found her to be quite rude and overbearing. For example she actually told me not to try to take notes during our visit. I didn’t have confidence that she cared about me, it sounded like she was lecturing out loud to her students and assessing my case in terms of the impact on her for workload or her reputation if things went wrong rather than to me as the patient. Sometimes doctors with good reputations get burned out and I think that is what happened to her. Recommend you go to anyone else but her right now.

Went for a consultation about my risk for ovarian cancer given my history of breast cancer and genetic testing and found Chernofsky to be dismissive, condescending, and just overall a poor listener who lacked compassion. She clearly didn’t think certain measures were advisable given my risk factors but her method for conveying that to me was infuriating.

For the past 4 months, I have been a patient of Dr Chernofsky and found her to be one of the most compassionate, energetic and positive doctors I have known. She is thorough in explaining procedures, answers questions fully - always making eye contact. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Her medical skill, personal warmth and sense of humor made a difficult time far easier. This is clearly a doctor who loves what she does. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - you are a gem!
