How are psychiatric patients supposed to get care?
I've been experiencing gingival enlargement that showed up with ulcers & elevated liver levels in September. I saw him in November out of concern for STILL having painful swelling, where he invalidated my cancer concerns before examining anything, told me that there's nothing wrong with me, belittled me for Googling possibilities to explain my experience (THAT I'M NOT IMAGINING), & repeatedly brought up my anxiety condition that I wasn't even trying to discuss. I had to beg him to just look at my mouth, which he did in a matter of seconds at the very end of the visit. When I looked at the notes later, I saw he said: 'We reviewed options with respect to her previous psychiatric diagnoses.' - I think that sounds an awful lot like 'I only listened as far as my bias allowed, and psych patients don't deserve to be heard with respect in dignified care.' --My gums are getting worse (still suffering in Dec), -despite regular brushing & having never dealt with bleeding gums prior to the ulcers.
