Dr. Serruya treated me for post-concussive symptoms from approx. 2016-2018. What stood out most to me about Dr. Serruya, was his willingness to take my input into consideration regarding my own treatment. When I wanted to go on medication, he helped me do so as safely as possible, and when I felt I was ready to go off of medication, he helped me do so safely and effectively as well. That being said, there were many suggestions he made to help with my lifestyle/healing based on his professional knowledge, and he was insistent on some of his suggestions where he saw fit. It was a good balance between allowing me to trust my instincts (nothing ever felt forced, which I really value in a Dr.'s office) and knowing when to impose his expertise. He fielded many questions. However, I must leave him with one last query - the one he left me, on our last appointment: "I wanted only to live in accord with the promptings which came from my true self. Why was that so very difficult?"

Pros of Physician • Competent, sound knowledge base. • Provides a blend of western and integrative medicine therapies. • Presents the latest research-based treatment options. • Takes time to answer questions most of the time in the appointment. • Seems to be best suited for a consultation or second opinion. Cons of Physician • Gives many treatment options at once which can be overwhelming for a patient to prioritize the recommendations. • Isn’t reachable via email or phone. Staff returns calls but takes a while. • Can't get an appointment within a reasonable time. • Lacks communication skills, at times can be arrogant and dismissive. There’s no such thing as perfect doctor. Figure out what is most important to you as a patient. Never settle for the status quo, especially if you’re managing a chronic disease. Your health is your most precious asset.

Thank for these kind words.

Dr. Serruya shows kindness when working with patients. He is extremely intelligent but can explain things in a non-clinical way so that your average person can fully understand the illness and recommendations. He is open to his patients pursuing multiple avenues, including second opinions. He also incorporates alternative medicine in his treatment plan, applying the best approaches. He does stay on top of the latest publications on your condition, and is not afraid to switch gears if warranted.
