grossly misdiagnosed ankle issue
Doctor Patel grossly misdiagnosed my ankle issue, minimized the extent of surgery and ignored patient request while misguiding patient on what the planned procedure was. The extent of recovery was not communicated to me, and follow up appointments ignored patient feedback and focused on arbitrary observations. Ankle function significantly worsened even 1.5 years after, with extensive PT. Patient has since been made aware of notoriety of this surgeon among colleagues. Avoid.

AMAZING ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON
I had ankle surgery with Dr M Patel 3 days ago. I had seen him in the office once. I needed my ankle repaired after breaking 3 bones & having surgery done by a Dr that didn't do a good job. Dr Patel was Dr #6 or #7 to give me his opinion & expertise. #5 & #6 sent me to Dr Patel because they knew that he had more experience & that he could offer more options. I'm so glad that I was referred to Dr Patel. We discussed my options in the office. I knew that he was the right doctor for the job. I had surgery on Tuesday. Today is Thursday & I feel great. I see Dr Patel next Wednesday for my follow up. If anything changes I will add it to my review but I am not expecting anything to be a problem. I highly recommend Dr M Patel at OrthoIndy for all your orthopedic needs. He is really a great Dr. OrthoIndy offers by far the best surgical experience you can find. Stress free surgery. If I had Dr Patel for the first surgery I wouldn't have had to have a second surgery. Well Worth my 2 hour drive.

Awesome Doctor!!
Dr. Patel has been my doctor since 2014. I have bad ankles and feet from past military service that I had been just dealing with for years. Dr. Patel has always been upfront with me about my issues and has always recommended physical therapy first when he thinks that would be best. He has performed surgeries on both of my feet and my right ankle. I never thought I would ever be able to run again, but after the surgeries I was able to start back running pretty well last year. My right shoulder suddenly went out in 2020, and I learned that I had a torn rotator cuff and frayed labrum. Fortunately, Dr. Patel specializes in shoulder issues as well and was able to repair it as well. I have 3 boys playing baseball and it was good to be able to throw with them again.

Completely misdiagnosed the foot problem. Was treated for some vague problem for 2+ months. Patient was in pain and unable to walk for many weeks. The problem was gouty arthritis. A simple blood test would have solved the problem but doctor refused to order the requested test. Primary care doctor diagnosed gout immediately upon hearing the symptoms.

Dr Patel is very through and professional. I have recommended him to friends. He has repaired a ruptured Achilles for me and has done acromial decompression on both of my shoulders. all surgeries went great and the outcomes have been fantastic. Also my surgery experiences at Ortho Indy were pleasant. The staff is punctual, Professional. I had no pain because of the recommended nerve block. Great Job. Also I would like to thank the surgery scheduler Pearl, she rocks!!!

Very friendly and professional. Dr.Patel answered all my questions and was very informative about my procedure. Performed procedure on 3-22-16. I saw Dr.Patel before surgery and was very pleased with his manner and attitude. I would recommend him to anyone needing surgery on their knee.

Dr. Patel preformed surgery on a bunion and hammertoe on August of 2012. My foot looks MUCH worse now than before the surgery. Dr. Patel gave me no indication before surgery that there was any question that the end of surgery outcome would be less than satisfactory. When I returned for follow up appointments he just gave me the run around. At one point he told me to stretch my toe and it would move in proper alignment..
