Actually competent and caring doctor
I got referred to Dr. Newkirk by a primary doctor back when I only suspected I had RA. I can't believe the sheer luck of actually having Dr. Newkirk as my first rheumatologist (and if at all possible, I would want her to be my last one for--hopefully--many more years to come). She took great care in diagnosing me, setting up the best treatment plan for me, and actually listening to my concerns along the way. Because of family history, I had some reservations about treatment and she always listened to me, and responded to me in a way that made me feel cared for and was backed by scientific evidence. I have been seeing Dr. Newkirk for several years now, and she has been amazing at coordinating my care with other doctors and her staff has always been responsive and nice. I am really struggling to find any negatives about my experience with her--partly because I think if I had any reservations/concerns about her, she is the most easy-to-talk-to person that would be open to criticism.

Dr. Newkirk is one of the best doctors I ever had. She is caring, patient, and thorough. Her appointments never feel rushed and she runs very thorough tests. If I have a question or concern about my condition, or symptoms that may not be related, she doesn’t hesitate to check on them, run more tests or refer me to the specialist that can help. I have been with her for nearly 5 years and I couldn’t have wished for anyone better.
