Dr. on the Spectrum
My husband has been a patient of Dr. Sanford's since 2014. I suspect this doctor has Asperger's Syndrome. All the reviews are true. He's a great surgeon with a deplorable bedside manner supported by a good staff. Other patients have identical experiences with identical harsh verbiage during consultation. Ask for a more detailed explanation and Dr. Sanford gets flustered, annoyed and raises his voice. You may be asked to repeat what he just said. Dr. Sanford can not give you spontaneous answers about your chart because he has 'thousands of patients'. Prostate questions? You'll be told to 'read the book!'. At some point Dr. Sanford will reveal his father was a urologist and so is his son. When the dismal appointment is done, he'll walk you to the door, shake your hand and thank you for coming in as if you're a patron, not a patient. When you get out of the office expect to be confused, overwhelmed and angry. My guess is his high IQ & long term skill set is what saves the patients.

Dr. Sanford spent a lot of time explaining to me everything I needed to know about my problem. He performed a procedure delicately. I feel like I'm in good hands with Dr. Sanford.

Not very professional
Seemed to be attentive at first, but became "short" with me during the exam, raising his voice when part of the exam became uncomfortable. During both the 1st visit and the follow-up, he escorted me to the front desk, encouraging me to leave a positive review. How unprofessional?! I won't be back, but Eisenhower won't even let me switch to another doctor. I'm left with no other option than to go outside their system.

Rude, Dismissive
You’re another patient he has 15 minutes with. Period. Knowledgeable without a soul. If he’s that angry, he should probably retire.

Awful experience.
He was rude, yelled at us, and answered every question we had with "read the book", this is cancer, compassion and information are what we need not sarcasm and arrogance. One of the worst medical treatment experiences to date. New doctor, new city booked.

Dr. Sanford is an experienced, knowledgeable, up-to-date professional Urologist who always looks out for my health and best interests. His staff is friendly, capable, and efficient at what they do. The office waiting area is spacious, as are the exam rooms. My wait times are minimal. Great experience!

On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give Dr Sanford a -50. His bedside manner is terrible. Here are two examples: #1: Dr Sanford gave me 2 options for a prostate biopsy (with and without an MRI first) but he would not explain the difference stating “my father is a urologist and he wouldn’t tell you either!”. We researched on our own & found the MRI method for the biopsy is more detailed & precise.. #2: Few months back,we visited the oncologist who said all was on track for a complete recovery. 2 weeks later, Dr Sanford said the last PSA test went up (it was up a miniscule degree) & if it goes up more, additional treatment would be necessary including another biopsy and cryotherapy. Feeling awful, I returned to the oncologist who totally disagreed with Dr Sanford telling me about other patients with similar test results which eventually went down to a desired score & this is the way it often plays out. I left the oncologist's office feeling much better. I won’t return to Dr Sanford.

Terrible service. Had to wait three months, then was refused service because I was 15 minutes late. Horrific front office, and low ratings. Be careful about this idiot and check out his other reviews.

My dad showed up to 1:30 appt to have Dr say he already saw him at 10:30 and was very rude when my dad said no he hadn't been there he had appts earlier in day and it was impossible that he was there. Then my Mother in Law calls them to speak with Dr and the receptionist was very rude to her!!! They are on their way there to complain. I can't believe this guy has any good reviews!

My experience was horrible. I was left bleeding for days after a cystoscopy and while I was in excruciating pain Dr Sanford would only say that cystoscopies don't hurt and pain relief is never needed! He then gave me an erassional drug lecture about what's wrong with this country! Had Sanford not been such a nut job, I might have stayed with him for my treatments. Instead, I went to City of Hope. After having my bladder and prostate removed, I'm now healthy and cancer free!

One of the best doctors that I have seen in a long time. The negative comments that I see on this site are the complete opposite to what I experienced as one of Dr. Sanford's patients. His staff was very helpful and efficient. It was a pleasure to see a medical practice being run so professionally!!!

After calling several urologists I was able to get a next day appt from Dr Sanford. I had read the reviews and was hesitant to see him but was desperate to be seen. I was rather pleasantly surprised at how positive an experience I had. He was very thorough in explaining my condition and did not hesitate to order further exams to make sure everything is functioning properly. His staff was professional and pleasant.

My husband was diagnosed with an early stage, malignant kidney tumor and referred to Sanford. Without reviewing the CT scan or ordering any tests to determine kidney function, Sanford told him that he'd probably lose the one kidney, the other kidney didn't function very well and he'd probably be on dialysis within the year. We went to UCLA. 5 years later, my husband has two kidneys that function quite well and the malignant tumor was removed. So much for Sanford's wisdom or expertise.

His staff, especially the front desk girl is rude and unpleasant. My father is 86 and has been his patient for years. He thought Dr. Sanford cared about him. But after he was diagnosed with a UTI which was MRSA and he was admitted to the hospital, it took the good doctor 5 days to pay him a visit and his office is next door. When he was in very serious condition, we couldn't even get a timely return call from Dr. Sanford or his office staff . His excuse...... he's busy. Don't go to him..
