Bad office experience
Took my 80+ year old mother in for an initial appointment and waited in an exam room for 45 min without anyone checking in. We ended up having to leave without seeing anyone due to my mother being in such discomfort. How could a neurology office, where most patients are in pain and possibly a struggle just to make it in for an appointment, then make them wait??? just plain sadistic. From now on, I will always use the extra gas and use UPMC or AGH for specialty care for my family.

Worst bedside manner ever!!!! So uncaring!!
Was 45 minutes behind Then had the nerve to come in look at me and say nothings wrong with your back even though I’m in absolute pain. Maybe there wasn’t anything wrong with my back but his bedside manner is absolute terrible! I was in terrible pain for some reason so at least show concern. I have my MRI results to show a doctor elsewhere. Do not recommend!

I was to the hospital and other doctors about my lower back pain. At 51 years old I could barely walk. I went to do Rutigliano and he said I had a herniated disc. He did my surgery and and said that I had to take it easy for 1 month and full recovery would be 6 months. I did not take as much as 1 pill for pain after my surgery and I walked around the recovery room 3 times when the nurse cam to get me up. This man is the greatest that I have had the pleasure to deal with. I have recommended him numerous times and will continue to do so.

He would not let my wife call me during her first consultation with him to discuss a herniated disc in her neck pushing on her spinal cord despite not allowing anyone other than the patient to come to the appointment due to COVID restrictions. He presented spinal fusion as the only option without even explaining why other options would not work. A second opinion with a different neurosurgeon she was encouraged to call me for the appointment and was told that due to her age (30) that she should have a disc replacement as the fusion will most likely lead to needing more fusions at the adjacent vertebrae due to the increased risk of disc slippage above and below the fusion, especially given her age. Stay away, and if you haven't get a second opinion.

He was great my first visit, but when I returned in pain he asked me "What are you doing here?" in a very nasty tone. I was devastated and now living in terrible pain due to his inaction.

I chose Dr Rutigliano to do my spinal fusion at L4 L5 S1 about 3 months ago. Prior to the surgery I was having trouble walking from sciatica pain. I am very pleased to say that now I'm walking about 3 miles a day. I still have occasional discomfort and pain which is to be expected with any type of back surgery. His staff was very helpful with any questions & quick with response. I would highly recommend this docter to anyone looking to have back surgery. I feel like I got my life back.

It was more than I expected. I had several bulging disc's that were crushing my spinal cord causing my right side to have no mobility and my left side to be numb. I had made an appointment to see the surgeon and to hopefully set up and appointment after the holidays to have surgery. Dr. Rutigliano sent me straight to the hospital for emergency surgery the following morning. This was on 12/17/15, today (12/23/15) I'm already walking 85% better than I have been since my surgery!
