Staff didn't call me for a reminder, I was late, appointment was rushed. Jaffe talked extremely fast, talked over me and shut down anything I theorized about my sports injury. Couldn't even tell him half my symptoms, all which coincide with the injury I have but instead wants to twist it and say it's from childhood mental issues.

The ABSOLUTE worst!
I was referred to this Kailua "pain management" Physiatrist for PRP injections after shoulder rotator cuff surgery. Instead, he went all rogue and diagnosed me with a rare neurological CRPG disease and a Conversion Disorder... although I had NONE of the symptoms! I would not recommend a doctor who disregards the reputable Specialist opinions in favor of an arrogant, unfounded misdiagnosis. No way!

Stay far, far away from this pain “specialist”
I saw Michael Jaffe for 4+ years before I finally left. He’s only available for 4 hrs/day, isn’t available 1-minute after his office hours end and doesn’t take any after-hours messages which is remarkable given that he prescribes strong pain meds. I had a routine blood panel ordered by my internist & Jaffe asked to be cc’ed on the test results. I always cc myself. My internist had ordered hepatitis A/B screening due to elevated liver enzymes on a previous panel. One of the hepatitis tests came back positive. I got an urgent call from Jaffe on a Friday that the hepatitis was “positive” and this explained my “liver problems”. I told Jaffe I had gotten a Hep vaccine years previously when I had backpacked in Asia & this was most likely vaccine-induced. Jaffe wouldn’t accept this explanation and insisted I had viral hepatitis. I couldn’t reach my internist on a Friday; I talked to her on Monday & she confirmed the test was positive due to the vaccine.Jaffe shouldn’t have stuck his nose in.

He was fantastic and eventually suggested a new hip. I was devastated when he moved to Hawaii and cannot find anyone nearly as good a doctor.

Dr Jaffe is a part-time doctor only. He’s only available for 4 hours a day and isn’t available via physicia exchange after hours if there’s an emergency as most doctors are. This is especially important for patients dealing with pain issues that have been prescribed medicines that other doctors can not prescribe and/or are not familiar with. I ended up in the ER just an hour after Dr Jaffe “left for the day” at 1pm and he couldn’t be reached by the ER attending doctor to discuss my case. I don’t think pain specialists should have such restrictive hours. Dr. Jaffe moved to Oahu from the mainland just a few years ago to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and put in a few hours working. On many occasions, Dr Jaffe, not his nurse, incorrectly inputted my prescription on his computer so when I went to the pharmacy to pick it up, it was the wrong type of pill. Very frustrating. He wasn’t a good doctor for me. I needed someone who was going to take his job more seriously.

I have seen Dr. Jaffe, both for a frozen shoulder: one ten years ago on my right shoulder and now for my left. He shows concern and understanding of the pain levels. He also takes time to answer any questions or concerns I have via email: I wasn't just always getting the nurse's reply as with other practitioners. He communicates with the physical therapy staff to find out what their assessment is of the patients which I think is a plus in terms of dealing with my issues.
