Dr. Michael Dempsey, MD

Dr. Dempsey is the most thorough doctor I have ever seen. He never rushes through an appointment. He listens to your concerns and really cares about helping you improve your quality of life. His forward-thinking has allowed me to live my life for past 33 years without the long- term complications associated with Type 1 Diabetes. He is simply the best endocrinologist. And his front office is a pleasure to deal with as well. He schedules appointments in such a way that there are never long waits to see him in his waiting room.

Dr. Dempsey is an amazing physician who has an extensive knowledge base to draw from years of practice and he brings this to expertly diagnosing and treating your endocrine issues. He is a good listener when you are sharing symptoms and concerns. He has a level of genuine caring and compassion when treating his patients. I would highly recommend him.

As a physician, I am very careful about whom I refer patients to. When I was first looking for an endocrinologist for my patients, I asked a colleague who he thought would be a good endocrinologist to refer to. He said: 'Michael Dempsey. Dr. Dempsey is the best endocrinologist I’ve had and helped me to lower my A1Cs and improve my time in range. I feel that he puts great effort into always making me feel happy and healthier as a patient and doing his best to assist me with whatever I may need. I am really able to count on him as my endocrinologist!

He even shares a bit about himself and family as well. He is truly a great doctor and even more importantly a great person!

Dr. Dempsey is the most thoughtful and thorough doctor I have ever seen in my life. He takes his time with you at each and every appointment to go over you medical/social history in his office before he performs a medical evaluation. Then he takes you into an exam room and again, takes him time with you to thoroughly evaluate your medical conditions. He is extremely knowledgeable and kind. I HIGHLY recommend him.

I found Dr. Dempsey to be empathetic, observant and highly qualified in his craft. He last saw my 90yr+ father a year ago and was able to deduce his complexion had paired meanwhile. He also mentioned that my father often talked of his children during past visits, something I wouldn’t have know based on my fathers stoic demeanor. I was able to deduce by the Dr. Methodic crawl through labs and in office vitals that he wasn’t one to miss clues , like a veteran detective he takes his efforts and patients well-being seriously and expertly.

Having known Dr. Dempsey for approximately 5 years, I have found him to be one of the more knowledgeable doctors I’ve ever talked to. Dr. Dempsey takes into account all of your medical issues, before making a recommendation. He is very clear when asking and answering questions, and encourages a patient’s input. He is also respectful of a patient’s time. As a result, there is almost never a wait, which is very rare in the D.C. area. I would highly recommend Dr. Dempsey.

I have been his patient for about 4 years. I have always found him knowledgeable, concerned, willing to address questions and issues in an understandable fashion, non-pompous. His scheduling is excellent so that there is little or no waiting

Issue with high T4 so went to Dr. Dempsey for further examination. It was complete and educational in how he described what could be happening. Spent time explaining and drawing upside down...not sure how he did that so well.

I have been a patient of Dr. Dempsey for 31 years. He is awesome and tells you the facts. I’ve lived with Type 1 diabetes for 52 years. Because of Dr. Dempsey working with me over the years I have stayed extremely healthy. I was fortunate enough to be his very first pump patient. Dr. Dempsey stays on top of his research and he keeps me informed of what is new out there. Doctor Dempsey was extremely thorough analyzing my medical history and suggesting a change in medications. My A1C has been much better under his supervision. I send him Libre two week glucose reports. He always responds in the same and makes suggestions regarding changes in my medications. I would recommend him to anyone that's suffering from diabetes.

I have been a patient of Dr. Dempsey for many years. He is kind, understanding, and very knowledgable. He's always willing to try something new, tackle a problem with a novel solution. He also makes himself very available to email and calls when needed. As a type one diabetic, he has helped me reach my best A1c and by far my best periods of control, after a more difficult period prior to seeing him. Of all the endo's I have seen, he is by far my favorite.

He has put me in test groups he has managed and always been there for me. He returns calls and is very professional. His office is well run with no long waits for appointments. I tried to get an appointment with Dr. Dempsey but was told that their practice does not accept Medicare. That is pitiful and a disservice to the community.

It's easy to see why Dr Dempsey has so many great reviews. Dr Dempsey has helped me a lot. He has been courteous and kind since I began seeing him 2 years ago. My internist referred me because of diabetes and thyroid problems which another endocrinologist couldn't solve. It was driving me crazy. She said Dr Dempsey would be her first choice if she ever needed an endocrinologist. She also said she had sent her husband to see him, which was good enough for me! As others have written, Dr Dempsey listens, and is non-judgemental. My control has never been better. He has a nice bedside manner and is very prompt. He always calls with lab results, saving me unecessary appointments and time away from my job. I recommend him highly.

Dr. Dempsey is an outstanding and caring endocrinologist. His expertise and thoughtful approach have been instrumental to my improved health. I fully agree with the entire range of positive comments made by his other patients. He is terrific.
