Not a good experience in any way
Everything about my visit with Dr.Cox was negative. The front desk was unorganized, one of the staff said the practice didn’t take my insurance and the other staff member working next to her said you should double check that, we take that insurance all the time. Ended up that yes, they took my insurance. Then I got back to see Dr. Cox. He told me I needed surgery for large kidney stones, roughly explained the procedure, maybe talked to me for 5 minutes. I told him I’ve never had any surgery before and was very nervous and he was so flippant and abrupt, no care to make me feel comfortable and didn’t give me any details when I asked what the down time was for the surgery. I felt very much like a number. I’m not asking to be coddled and hand held but a little bit more attention and information (maybe another 3 minutes of his time) would have eased my mind. Bottom line, I will not ever return to this practice again and went to a neighboring city and found the care I was seeking.

Dr. Cox didn't impress me. Throughout the consultation, his manner was abrupt — borderline rude. I'd certainly give him a negative grade for "bedside manner" and willingness to really engage with the patient. He didn't seem interested in getting a full read on my condition. He responded to most matters by rattling off a list of possible treatments, some of them for extreme versions of my condition and, thus, not appropriate in my case. I felt that he was showing off the breath of his knowledge rather than wishing to create a comfortable, productive environment and work towards a solution. I ended up feeling confused and as if I'd been slightly harassed. I would avoid Dr. Cox.

Dr. Cox probably has the medical prowess to be effective in this field, he can certainly spew medical jargon with the best of them, but his perception that your complaint simply isn't happening because it hasn't been covered in the texts seriously impacts his efficacy as a care giver. Talking over and down to patients doesn't "enlighten" them, it demeans them. A little earnest work on patient interaction skills and on curbing his God-Complex would be appropriate and highly encouraged.
