Dr. Michael Connolly, MD

He was very calming when things were super stressful and chaotic.

My daughter who was 18 at the time of her first and LAST appointment experiences severe anxiety and would have panic attacks. She finally took courage to see a psychiatrist. She made an appointment at 8 am with Dr, Michael Connolly. All night she was nervous about her appointment that she slept horribly and woke up late. She called the doctor and told him what happened and that she could come but she would be late HE SAID NO. Charged her $365 for a no show. She was willing to come in late and at least get half of the appointment. I talked to the billing department, and they talked to the doctor. HE WAS INSISTENT she paid. My daughter was bawling and literally having a panic attack. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! He has sent it to collections only to increase her anxiety and ruining her credit.

Sometimes he tends to drone on a bit--which is particularly difficult with a teen, but Dr. Connolly seems to sincerely care about my son. He always asks questions and listens to my perspective as a parent as well as my son's perspective. He also seems to value the value and diagnosis of my son's therapist, which is crucial. The way our system is set up, it is the therapist, who sees the patient weekly or more, who is actually able to determine where the patient is truly at. The psychiatrist/doctor must take into account what the therapist is seeing and base medication upon this (along with his or her brief observation, of course). In our system psychiatrists aren't the ones who dive deeply and help you process the problems--that's the job of the therapist. The psychiatrist is there to prescribe medication. Dr. Connolly does this well. He listens to us, to the therapist, and combines this with his own expertise to determine which medication to use.
