Condescending and horrible bedside manner
Dr. Kirkwood barely listened to what has been going on with me and then interrupts me and says 'I don't know what to do and not sure why you would think I would be your savior'. Not once did I utter that last word and for someone who has been dealing with something so odd the last few months it was extremely uncomfortable to be treated by a physician in this manner. Given that she's the chief you would think she would at least try to offer a referral which she didn't. I used to work at UTSW and I expected a lot more from their physicians given their mission statement. If you don't have a case that fits within the four corners that she's used to working within don't go.

I will never forget this interaction with this Doctor. She walks in(late afternoon) acting mean, violently grabs my arm to look over it. Very dismissive, very condescending to the point I had to give it back to her, in a way she understood she is not God or the last Doctor in Dallas. She advised surgery, now I realize it was a bad idea. The couple in the waiting room told me she planned to amputate her husbands leg. I really hope that didn't happen. I'm bothered all the time for not saying more on my way out to the older couple. Like find a different Doctor.

I was referred to her from out of town. A 10 hour drive for a rare case. Once she walked in the room, she claimed that I seemed “educated” on my symptoms. That I must have researched a lot. NO MAAM. I am living with my illness. She disagreed that my sickness exists, which makes me wonder, why on earth did she accept my referral?? I traveled a long way. She may be good at “protocol and typical” issues. But if you have a rare case, don’t bother with this woman.

She totally disagreed with the diagnosis from my ENT which he said was confirmed by the CT Scan he ordered. I appreciate her right to disagree, however, she responded to my stress totally inappropriately. If she disagreed, why would she not help me in determining what was wrong? In the entire UTSW system she could think of no one to refer me to!!!! I was upset, and don't want to keep living with these symptoms whether the diagnosis was correct or not. What's the cause? Basically she didn't care.
