Dr. Mei Lai, MD

I moved to the desert from LA recently and needed a new primary doctor. Dr Lai is personable, knowledgeable, took the time to listen to my concerns. I highly recommend Dr Lai, her nurse Ashley was wonderful as well.

This is not a pro-active physician, and I would not trust a loved one in this physician's care, sadly. Further, her office has misplaced/lost important legal documents TWICE while taking no responsibility for it -- which now leaves my mother up the creek without a paddle. Keep searching -- you can do better.

Excellent, she is my primary doctor and is treating several of my physical problems. I would give her more stars.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This doctor is the coldest least communicative medical professional I have have ever met. Being new to the area, I kept giving her another chance hoping she would warm up a bit, but when I was notified a couple of days before my third appointment that she was on leave, I decided that was it. The fill in doctor was told that I was seeking treatment for a disease that I do not have - all I wanted was to get prescription refills. I was then told that the "new" doctor would not be able to order prescription refills, since she was "not my doctor." I spoke with a supervisor who was able to request the refills from Dr. Lai. I made it perfectly clear which pharmacy I used and the doctor took her sweet time calling in the prescription to the WRONG pharmacy. Steer clear if you hope to communicate with your doctor as this one does not listen and cannot even get a prescription order to the correct pharmacy.

She was a bit sarcastic when asking me health questions. Clearly not in the loop about current Thyroid management and testing. Challenged me on my ideas, her nurse was rude and had a bad attitude. Would not test a few things I asked to to test. I just know too much I think.

Very professional, kind, engaged and compassionate. She is the perfect Doctor.
