Dr. Mehul Adhaduk, MD

I had traveled to UI to visit my brother who had taken a turn for the worse. When he and his wife asked Dr. Adhaduk about their options he told them there were only 2, die in hospital or die in a nursing home. When asked about going home he told them that wasn't an option. He stood waiting for an answer with no compassion or consideration that this was a private discussion for my brother to have with his wife. He was consistently argumentative, disrespectful, and rude. He refused to schedule a meeting, at the patient’s request, to include all of the specialists involved in my brother’s care. He did not give them meaningful answers to their questions in order for them to make informed decisions, violating the patient’s rights. Once SW got involved, he was able to go home with hospice as he wished, but not until slipping into partial unconsciousness. He could have gone home 2 days sooner if it weren’t for this Dr’s incompetence and disregard for the patient’s rights and dignity.

Absolutely not!! This Dr. had no bedside manners. It was all about him every time he came in. The patient was eating and he didn’t care. He made you stop everything for him. When we asked for a meeting with all three Dr.’s, Heart, Kidney and Liver, he did his best to prevent that meeting. He succeeded even though we requested! When only the Heart Dr. made it, he insisted we continue without the other two. Why was he even there? Who asked him? This Dr. was the biggest jerk we’ve ever encountered. This Dr. said the patient would NEVER go home. He would end up in a nursing home, all in front of the patient. How comforting!! I would NEVER recommend him and feel sorry for other people that have to deal with him. The prescription order needed was sent to this Dr. early afternoon, by hospice, so drugs could be picked up that evening. He said that will not happen until at least the next day. Really? What kind of Dr. acts this way? Good luck if you keep Dr.’s like this.
