I saw Dr. Brown a few years back as a college student. After just one previous session, she misdiagnosed me with bipolar disorder, pressured me into taking mood stabilizers by essentially threatening to withhold campus mental health resources, and painted me as uncooperative when I expressed reasonable hesitation about changing my medication so drastically. The whole experience felt insidiously hostile and manipulative. These two sessions were so traumatic that I couldn't bring myself to see her again--a requirement to switch to a different provider and get my medications refilled (which I would withdraw from without a refill or a provider to help me taper off of them), and thus had to spend lots of time and money that I did not have visiting a psychiatrist outside of the university's clinic. After doing some research, I have found that this is a disturbingly common experience among her former patients. I strongly recommend you avoid this provider.
