Patient & Caring Doctor
I began using Dr Collins just before the pandemic started. She is always a good listener & gives me good advice. We had to do a FaceTime call & she was caring & apologetic due to covid not allowing an in person visit. I was able to recommend her to several people before her practice filled up. Everyone feels she is an excellent doctor. I never had any problem with her staff or getting thru to her. She is very good @ returning texts etc. I cannot believe the people who complained. Perhaps, they are just “born” complainers.

Dr Collins went above and beyond for me when I tested positive for COVID 19. I am new to Dr Collins and had only seen her once before this diagnosis. She facilitated my enrollment in a then new treatment of monochronal antibody treatment which helped me get over me recover. This is the care and treatment I want from my doctor, someone who takes charge and is responsive to my medical needs.

I can't believe the high ratings. I have seen this doctor multiple times as other in my family have too. Poor bedside manner, dismissive and almost rude. Constantly rushed and said so. Resistant to looking into existing medical issues. Declined to run tests that other primaries run (isn't the purpose to run panels once a year, not only when you're sick?). Basically, doesn't seem to want to be an internist. Does not seem to care at all. In-office experience - the staff are unprofessional and disorganized and loud. My chart experience - the receptionist repeatedly intervenes in personal messages and responds to medical messages written to the Doctor. Scheduling is a mess. Referrals are a mess.

I found this doctor to fall short of her oath & responsibilities; at my first OV, I got the impression that she prefers easy cases in which she doesn’t have to 1) READ or REVIEW your chart including reports she ordered, 2) REFER because nobody at NYU knows her & she’s unfamiliar with the doctors & their specialities (in the end I had to do my own research & referrals); and 3) poor bedside & egocentric manner (eg “I don’t do thyroid, I don’t prescribe those meds”) she was essentially saying she didn’t want me as a patient because it takes too much time. She also said “I have lots of patients & need to get out of here by 8pm so can’t give you more time”. She has good credentials & some good reviews & I forced myself to go back for a 2nd OV thinking “she must just be having a bad day”—NOT! This is who she is & how she presents so “when someone shows you who they really are the first time, believe them” I would not recommend this doctor.

After waiting for more than a month for my appointment I see why she is fully booked! I had an exceptional experience. She took her time to ask me a lot of questions and really get to know me. She was thoroughly listening and present. I didn't feel rushed and she answered all my questions. She ordered some blood work and told me what she would advise both if tests came out well or bad, so I knew what to do and didn't need to come back. Also she added notes explaining my results when they cam in 3 days later.

I have several, life-hindering, ongoing incurable conditions. In an appointment ostensibly about becoming my PCP, she showed no interest and an unwillingness to even catalog conditions which I'm supposed to trust her to treat. The disrespect she shows toward patients' health and well-being is remarkable.

Dr. Collins always has time to listen to you. Her time with you is well spent. She listens then examines you, asking questions as she works. She explains very well when there is a need for more tests and why they are necessary. She calls you with the results of your tests, even if its late in the evening! She does not make house calls but she will fit you into her busy schedule if you need to see her urgently! She is always professional and easy to communicate with.

Dr. Collins is great...the office is about a minus 10. You can't get through to them, they don't return phone calls, and when you go into the office directly to get something they STILL don't give you the referral or prescription.

Dr. Collins herself is fine - a little brusque but seems on top of things and attentive. But getting anything from her office - prescription refills, test results, anything - is like pulling teeth. I moved six months ago, and despite probably half a dozen calls to the office, they STILL keep sending my prescription to my old pharmacy. Every. Single. Month. It's enough to make you tear your hair out!
