Dr. Maurice Masse, MD

Helped me out a lot, good guy.

Talk to him and be honest he will get you on the right meds. He has helped me through my darkest days.

I was assigned Dr Masse from Neighborhood Counseling Center in Brooklyn. Upon my first phone mtg with him, he inquired about the manner of death of both my brother and friend who had each died by suicide. I have never been asked this question from any mental health practitioner I've engaged with and it's totally irrelevant to my care. After the intake appt, Dr. Masse failed to provide my prescription, and after several emails to NCC I was forced to have another session with him (I was billed for both) to receive the prescription. At this point I had divided my dosage for a week and had been without any medication for an additional week and was experience symptoms of withdrawal (e.g. trouble sleeping, anxiety, hot flashes, etc.). He accused me of dropping the ball and asked me "...why I didn't just email him" to which I informed him that I had never been given his email address or direct phone line. I still to this day do not have this information. Our med mgmt appt last roughly 1 min.

I came here already diagnosed. On medication. Told him my goals. Everything seems nice and on point until the next session he decides it’s best for me to be on another toxic medicine I declined, The next month he offered me something else Knowing well that I’m trying my best to taper, Why on earth would you offer me more toxic medicine?

Dr. Masse is an outstanding psychiatrist and person. He accurately diagnosed my condition and prescribed the only medication that has controlled my symptoms so well that I am functional and extremely happy. He is a sincere person who does his very best to help his patients because he truly cares. I recommend him without any hesitation. He is the BEST!

His bedside manner leaves something to be desired. On my first visit, he talked to me for less than 10 minutes before he attempted to prescribe me medicine I do not need. I would also wait upwards of 40 minutes past my scheduled time, only to be shuffled in and out of his office in less than 15 minutes.
