Disappointing to say the least
I’ve been seeing the PAs at Southcoast Brain & Spine for 9 months with no real relief of back and leg discomfort. I was supposed to meet a surgeon in early January to talk about the next steps but that visit was rescheduled. At my next appointment, the surgeon was not there and I again met with the PA (who I think is great, btw). I was told they would get back to me with recommendations from Dr. Phillips. A week later, I received a message in MyChart stating that “Dr. Philips has reviewed your case. He believes you might benefit from a lumbar laminectomy” and a surgical discussion visit was booked for a week later. When I saw Dr. Philips (the visit lasted 10 minutes), he seemed very disinterested and then changed his original suggestion and said “I think you need a laparoscopic procedure.” He went on to put in his notes that we had a lengthy discussion. We did not. I would not recommend this man. He is rude and lacks apathy.

Not a Good Visit
When i met Dr Phillips for the first time everytime i stried to speak he would cut me off. I went in there looking for answers to my pain and he pretty much rushed me out of the office in a hurry and reffered me to a neurologist. My father's surgeon listens to the issues and comes up with a solution and is very kind and i felt i did not get that here at my first visit. I was rushed out and not happy..Maybe he is a good surgeon to complete the job but NO bedside manner !!

An amazing talented doctor!
Reading all of the others reviews I must say I agree with everything. Dr. Phillips gave me my ability to get back to life! My spine broke almost in half and with terrible osteoarthritis fixed my entire spine. Truly nothing short of a miracle. So with a much grateful heart I thank him and his entire team. Blessings on all of you, Lin

Lumbar interbody Fusion
I had recent Lumbar Cage/Fusion L4-L5 surgery,2wks ago. Dr Phillips was very comforting prior to the procedure....I felt so great post op due to the surgery and the wonderful post op Care of the St Lukes staff, that I was able to go home after 1day post op. The NPs were wonderful...I feel the best I have felt in 15yrs! The surgery provided me with instant sciatica relief. I would absolutely use him again.

Michelle caouette New Bedford Ma siacta procedure
Went to see him for siacta. He did the one day in n out procedure. I never walked out of the surgery, I never felt my toes and almost handicapp after the simple procedure. I kept going back for 3 years after getting worse. He was really nice before the surgery but very rude after the surgery. I was in unbearable pain and could not walk at 42 yrs old. I kept telling him something was wrong. He kept pushing me out. Other opinions said that I needed major surgery and he kept saying that I didn't. His nurse is rude, his PA was rude and Matthew even stated there was no need for me to follow up with him. Well my PCP took an MRI and it read that my L5 S1 nerve was severely narrowed. It wasn't even in Matthews notes, actually nothing was in his notes! Just disc generation disease. He left me in alot of pain with a disabled child knowing that I couldn't walk after he touched me. I went to another surgeon and just had my major back surgery 7 Days ago and I already feel great and walking around.

I asked to see Dr Philip specifically because he had performed surgery on my wife and I was quite pleased with the results. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed in the care I received, or in fact didn’t receive. The examination was very short. He did basically nothing. I was never vitalized by staff. No one reviewed my medication list, and it was inaccurate. But yet my visit summary shows respiration’s and weight that was never taken. I was rushed through with no explanation of my problems and was told directly “it’s not your spine” with no further explanation. I’m quite disappointed and am seeking a second opinion. I personally won’t recommend in fact avoid seeing him.

Dr Philips is an incredible Doctor!!?? I would highly recommend him for neck surgery. I had my first surgery through Drs on Cape Cod...biggest mistake! They had no bedside manners, didn't listen to you or care about what you had to say. I fell 4 months after my surgery with them and told me I was fine! I was not! Dr Philips listens, explains everything and took care of me! My surgery was a success, and follow up with Dr Riveria's pain clinic! I couldn't be more happy. I'm in great hands now!!??
