Didn’t take me seriously.
Had a consult with Dr. Newlin for gallbladder surgery. He only looked at my tests and not my symptoms. He refused to take my gallbladder out and attributed my symptoms to stress. I had another doctor at Conemaugh who immediately knew my gallbladder had to come out. My symptoms were because my gallbladder was badly scarred. It was not stress and Dr. Newlin didn’t care to hear any of my actual symptoms. My tests were “normal” but my gallbladder was not. So frustrating that he wouldn’t take me seriously.

Top notch surgeon
Telehealth
Removed a tumor the size of a racquetball and 8” of my colon back in 2022. He told me he got it all and better yet no chemotherapy was required. He saved my life. Just yesterday he removed a cyst from my abdomen. Very good bedside manner. Would highly recommend him to anyone requiring surgery.

Uncomfortable
First of all, his nurse (who looked like she was 12) was very judgemental and rude. She kept asking me the WRONG medical information and acted irritated while I answered her questions. Then Dr. Newlin walks in, looks me up and down and says, "So, what? You want to figure out which surgery you want or what?" The appointment was a surgery requirement. He knew next to nothing about me, as if he didn't look over any of my information in the month leading to my appointment. He very briefly went over some papers and then quickly rattled off important information about requirements (labs, diet, med stopping, etc) before surgery. He asked medical history questions, grilled my answers and also had some wrong information about me. The appointment from waiting room to me in my car to leave was 25 minutes. This is a huge, life changing procedure - he makes me very uncomfortable to go under the knife with. Will he be this careless in the OR? Very upsetting experience.

Dr Newlin had me get a pet scan, he informed me that it showed NO CANCER. When I went to the Oncology I was told that the pet scan did show the cancer. Dr Newlin did schedule me for another procedure that he said showed I had stage four cancer. Did he not know How to read the pet scan or did he want to make more money before sending me to the Oncology. Shame on you Matthew, I will not address you as doctor.
