Above and beyond
I was referred to Dr. Mellon after suffering a traumatic leg injury. He performed the repair and I thought I was on my way. I was naive and unable to grasp the severity of my injury. I have undergone two subsequent surgeries with Dr. Mellon over the following two years, the most recent being a total knee replacement. He had told me going in to the surgery that he would have to make decisions about how to proceed once he was able to evaluate the condition and function of my knee during surgery. He spent considerably more time than scheduled modifying the procedure to address my specific condition so that I would have the best possible long-term outcome. I am recovering well and look forward to having full function back. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Mellon and his team for their care. My respect for his skill and expertise cannot be overstated.

Outstanding Hip Surgeon - Dr. Mellon! Throughout 2022 the pain and weakness in my right hip got so bad that it hurt to climb stairs; by late summer, I had to go up one step at a time. Dr. Mellon had X-rays taken and determined there was significant deterioration of my hip, & he recommended hip replacement surgery. This was a huge deal & would require substantial recovery time. I had to postpone surgery because I was recovering from severe wounds on my feet exacerbated by neuropathy; I finally had surgery on July 28, 2023. Dr. Mellon proved to be an excellent surgeon who cares about his patients. Prior to surgery, he explained everything that was to be done so that I'd understand exactly what I was getting into. After surgery, he made sure I knew that everything had gone well, and in subsequent follow-ups, which invovled imaging of the hip, he again reassured me that all was well. I have continued my post-surgery exercise regimen, and my new titanium hip hardware is progressing nicely! Dr. Mellon is a wonderful doctor and a great surgeon, and I recommend him to anyone with hip issues.

I had a broken fib from a fall while running and needed a plate and some screws. From the first appointment through the surgery and follow up Dr. Mellon and his staff were great. All appointments were on time and he explained everything every step of the way, very straight forward. I never felt rushed or dismissed. The surgery went perfectly and after the first week pain was minimal. I have already recommended him to people I know.

Absolute failure. Had a DVT under my cast, which is why my pain was a 10 ..described symptoms; he knew I had a family risk pulmonary embolism and needed levonox shots for the initial immobility risk getting home for initial appt....After initial appt got severe pain and called immediately when the office opened... Only offered appt. 48 hours later with pain at a 10 and no improvement with medicine. Recommend orthopedics of Wisconsin...amazing treatment looked under cast dx. And started Aspirin

I have had a very positive experience with Dr Mellon. I have a fractured hip and he is doing the replacement He spent an extremely long time for a busy surgeon explaining how the procedure is done possible problems that could arise and care afterward. He also scheduled a pre op question appointment for me just to answer my questions which he answered very thoroughly and showed me examples on the computer. I read previous comments and did not find him arrogant at all, much the opposite

I was in a serious motorcycle accident in 2013 when Dr. Mellon was in New York. My right femur was badly fractured. Dr Mellon was my treating orthopedist and operated on my leg a number of times. He did a fantastic job. After being told in the emergency room that I was going to lose my right leg, today I walk without a limp, climb stairs and can ride a bike. He was patient with my family's endless questions, and was always available to discuss my concerns. I heartily recommend him!

This man did not give me a single bit of useful information. I went there for an mri and not only did he fail to provide me with the scan (to determine if my foot was fractured) but he disregarded every question I asked and treated me like I was wasting his time. I had driven an hour and a half to get to that appointment and I might as well have asked a stranger on the street for a diagnosis. I bet the stranger would have been more helpful. What a waste of time. How is this man a doctor??

Dr. Mellon dismissed all complaints of pain & discomfort I was having with 2 issues I visited him for. I was told I was "old" & should expect the pain I was in. Found out today, after visiting with another doctor who actually took time to investigate my shoulder pain that I have numerous rotator cuff tears. My broken foot will need continued treatment. He saw this same foot 2 years ago & did nothing but keep me in an air cast for SIX months!? Who does that?

He comes off as arrogant, judgemental, and uncompassionate with no empathy for what his patients are going through. If you want a doctor that cares about his patients, go to anyone else in this office but him. Everything else about this practice is very satisfactory.
