In my appointment, this Dr. Koepplinger’s behavior was rude, careless, and condescending. He listed a short list of what wasn't wrong with me and suggested no further options whatsoever. When I asked "Why do you think my knuckle is swollen and purple?" which I think is a pretty reasonable question as he's a hand doctor and it was the reason for the visit he said verbatim "I don't know what you're fishing for" and when i asked what that means he said "I won't answer questions about perceptions of your feelings." Then after previously saying I don't need further assessment he offered an ultrasound. When I asked what changed that made him believe an ultrasound would be helpful now he basically said my own peace of mind. Which isn't really a recommendation from him? He was short with me from the start, interrupted nearly everything I said, and did not take the full history on what happened to my hand which is literally negligent. When I shared that I am hoping for a respectful doctor-patient relationship and expressed that I felt condescended he said, "There's nothing I can do about that," and I think he was telling the truth! He seemed fundamentally incapable of care or respect. At least he was honest about his shortcomings - there's simply nothing he can do about your desire to be treated with respect. So if that's important to you maybe look elsewhere!

Treats You Like An Object
He operated on me, had the worst bedside manner, and never followed up with me. He was extremely rude during every single interaction. He did not seem concerned for my well-being in any way, shape, or form.

First visit I thought he was rude and uncaring but then perhaps it was just me. Recently, a year later, I returned, and after the appointment running two hours late, I was treated more rudely than ever. This doctor has no bedside manner or no manners whatsoever and doesn’t appear to care about your symptoms. Twice is enough to know I will not return.

Dr Koepplinger is an amazing Dr. He performed surgery on my sons finger that was fractured and had a dislocated bone on 4/16/20. He has an amazing bedside manner and is very comfortable to talk to as well as very caring. He did a fantastic job on a difficult procedure. I would highly recommend him to everyone. Thank you Dr Koepplinger!!

I was referred to Dr. Koepplinger by my orthopedic surgeon to look at possible Kienbock's disease in my right wrist. My initial visit I thought Dr. K was very businesslike; explained everything in detail and also gave me the choice to continue to ignore the situation or have the surgery to correct it. I chose surgery to correct it. Pre Surgery, Dr. K was very good about coming in to inform me what was ahead; what to expect etc. and apologized for the delay in surgery times. I did joke that i needed a cheeseburger since surgery had been delayed but i did not get that cheeseburger. my first post op visit, ALL details of surgery were discussed; pathology reports and discussed how I was feeling after surgery. He was personable, took an interest in my recovery and seems to be a doctor who will take an active interest in the continuing recovery of this issue.

In 2017 i came to memorial Hermann and he took one look at my hand and said they could not save it. I had been at baytown Methodist for 3 weeks and a dr. Moore left my hand rapped and it was rotting. Dr. Koepplinger saved my life and my arm. He is a wonderful doctor. I would recommend him to anyone.

I had a table saw-thumb injury. My only concern was getting the best Dr. and saving my thumb! I met Dr Koepplinger after my surgery, he was straight forward very factual and didn't sugarcoat things. I have done what he has recommended w/ PT & exercise. From my experience, most "feel good" doctors are your PCP's.. Surgeons are there to "FIX a problem in the Operating Room, not waste time visiting. He wants the best outcome for his patient, he has done his part and expects you to do yours!

I understand how some previous reviewers might not have liked Dr. K's bedside manner: he's got a dry sense of humor and is very to-the-point. Personally I thought he was great to deal with, but the most important factor in my review is that his work on my hand and the therapy he recommended (DO THE THERAPY!!!) gave me great results. One neg: I wish my surgery had been explained better beforehand, but since it was an emergency situation, it's not like we really had a lot of time to discuss.

Long story short: I had a lot of arthritis in my right wrist and was referred to Dr K by another Doctor in the same building. Before surgery my wrist was very strong with moderate pain (3-5). After surgery, for 8-10 months my wrist had very little strength and an 8/9 pain level. I found a better wrist specialist whom stated the surgery Dr K did only worked 50% of the time. Now having to treat with injections to lower pain. Had Dr K told me the low success rate, I would not have done this surgery

I saw him for a hand issue and he seemed to be preoccupied and gave me the impression that he was not concerned. He informed me that I had a "growth of something" in my wrist but he was not going to remove it just to be removing it. I showed him that I could not move my thumb any longer or make a fist because of the swelling and he said that I needed to go and see a nerve doctor. I went to another hand specialist and he determined it was a Calcium Mass and had to be removed immediately.

Dr. Koepplinger may be a great surgeon but he is horrible Dr to deal with. Everytime my husband saw him, we felt rushed..Dr. Never asks how he feels, just does the same crap everytime. He always has this "I'm better than you and don't have time for you" attitude. I'm under the impression he thinks he is the best Dr. Out there, but I'm pretty sure that there are a handful of doctors who do just as good a job and actually care. He's raised his voice several times, and has cussed on many occasions

Dr. Koepplinger is late for his appts. I try to be the first appt for the day thinking he can be on time, but he walks in late. During my last visit I had enough and left without seeing him. You would think he would call with an apology, but of course he did not. His physician assistant, who was also late, finally came in and tried to buy time for him by asking me questions. They also had the nerve to bill me for this visit when I didn't see the doctor. If I could rate him less than "1" I would.
