When Dr. Kaufman first became my eye specialist he and his staff were great. Practice was basically small. As his practice has steadily grown that has changed very much. I no longer am happy going there. He and his staff have all become cool and much less interested in you as a person with concerns. After you wait on average 45 min his staff person spends a hurried 15 minutes doing the basic routine of exam to prep for him. He eventually arrives, hurriedly, and half of the time you don't get eye contact even. His practice has grown way too much and every member there reflects the stress of the load. It's hurry hurry hurry. I'm saddened by what has happened to the great place it once was. Now the hideous search for a new ophthalmologist.

Experienced professional and a great team
Dr. Kaufman is highly professional and obviously concerned about the quality of care he and his staff provide to patients. He shows patience, knowledge and a sense of humor--all of which are appreciated. Three of his team members are extraordinary professionals in both what they do and in their care for their patients. Surgical coordinator Sheila Smith went above and beyond the cataracts options that were available to us--and it meant a great deal to my wife and me. She was thorough, friendly and highly professional. I also want to recognize Maddy, another person on Dr. Kaufman's team. She was both positive to talk to and encouraged our questions to Dr. Kaufman. Also, Diane, the surgical receptionist in Cumming, represented the true spirit of great medical care. These three individuals exemplify excellence--both in what they do and how they do it. Like all business executives, doctors and surgeons are often defined by their team members and Dr. Kaufman's team is exceptional.

My concern. First visit sent me straight over to schedule cataract surgery within his office. Put off six months due to selling home and moving. Second visit said was ready to schedule cataract surgery. He has intern present and says "you can't just come in and order cataract surgery because you want it". Year prior my since retired eye surgeon said I had minimal cataract. I'm trying different doctor because felt too much like going through a assembly line. Too quick, measured, no explanation.

I have been a patient at North Georgia Eye Clinic in Cumming, GA. for almost a year. During these months, which included several procedures on my eyes, ending with cataract surgery, Dr. Matthew Kaufman patiently explained everything in detail to me and was always willing to take the time needed to answer all my questions. Employees on the staff at this facility were incredibly professional and friendly, with my overall impression being that the enterprise operates like a well oiled machine with everyone understanding and performing their jobs admirably. Through some miracle, which I will probably never understand, Dr. Kaufman helped me see again. . . something I would not have believed possible when my journey began months ago. It has been an extremely positive experience for me and this provider is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I'm not sure why people are complaining about co-pays and what not - that has nothing to do with Dr Kaufman's expertise as an eye Dr. And for the people who said he pushed cataract surgery.....my experience was the opposite - he said mine were not bad enough to have surgery. Very nice Dr and great staff!

Dr. Kaufman is very knowledgeable and precise in his approach. He recently removed cataracts from both of my eyes, replaced the lenses and corrected my astigmatism. He was pleasant to deal with and was committed to achieving the best possible results. The facilities are excellent and his staff is friendly and professional. They provided clear explanations and also worked with my insurance company to prescribe post-surgical medications that were covered. Outcome was awesome!

Had apt. with Dr. Kaufman on 3/14. He was very vague about when the cataract surgery would be done. I needed 3 boxes of drops for $60 + $35 co-pay. Apt. was made for 4/11 & paid $35 co-pay. I was made for an apt. 4/25 & paid $35 co-pay. Apt. was scheduled for 6/1 & paid $35 co-pay plus a $3.15 for something that was done on the 3/14/17 visit. Finally apt. made for the surgeries for 7/12 (rt) and 7/26 (lf). I am to pay $275 surgery center fees + $35 clinic fees for each surgery. CANCELLED!

Eye surgeon, Dr. Matthew Kaufman, has an authentic, positive demeanor seldom found in the medical profession. His entire staff is an extension of that "patient first" attitude rendering North Georgia EYE an excellent facility to service our visual needs.

I received intense pressure to get cataract surgery immediately. The expensive procedure would have cost me out of pocket $. I obtained a second opinion and was told by a reputable doctor that I did not need surgery at this time. I also was very displeased when I received a letter in the mail which included a full page hearing aid ad. I had to research the origin of the sender since it didn't include a letter head. It came from his group in Gainesville. He had not checked my hearing. Creepy!

This was the fourth visit and just a follow up. Total time from arrival to departure was 3 hours 10 minutes, not a hint of an apology. Unfortunately this is not the exception. First three visits ranged from 2:20 to 2:40. I did raise my concern twice and was told by a very curt/ offended office manager that 2 hours was a standard visit. obviously scheduling way to many people and DO NOT CARE that there patients spent 3 plus hours there for a five minute interaction. Arrogance at its pinnacle
