Dr. Matthew Gretzer, MD

Have seen multiple urologists over many decades for urinary problems. Only Dr. Gretzer seemed to be able to diagnose and solve the problem. I attribute this to his terrific ability to listen to me, size me up, and talk to me in an appropriate and reassuring way. One visit with him was way more valuable than the slew of antibiotics that other urologists had foisted on me over the years. From other reviews I understand that Dr. Gretzer is a gifted surgeon. That makes me all the more appreciative that he spent time with me the way he did.

I have gone to 4 urologists in multiple states over the past 10 years (I moved due to work). I have seen each urologist for the same reason. I need a RX for Tamsulosin to improve urinary flow. For some unknown reason Dr Gretzer coded my primary reason for seeing him as sexual dysfunction, not urinary issues. Blue Cross Blue Shield refused to pay for my visit. This is the first time in 10 years BCBS has refused to pay for any doctor's visit. If you want to have your insurance company pay for services you receive, you best see another physician.

Penile implant from another urologist went terribly wrong. Dr. Gretzer was able to correct an EXTREMELY difficult situation for me. My opinion is that he is a very gifted surgeon.

I was referred to Dr. Gretzer by another Urologist. I have a sever urethra stricture that has left me with pain for 64 years every time I urinate. I’ve had numerous procedures and operations that just seemed to make matters worse. I was at a point in my life where I was ready to give up hope of ever having my problem corrected. Dr. Gretzer was going to be my last attempt at correcting my problem. When I meet with Dr. Gretzer I found him to be very personable and professional. He went over my issue with me, answered all my questions, then he recommended a course of action we both agreed on. His genuine concern for helping me with my issue came out in our conversation. His desire to help people was clear to me in our discussions, I realized I could trust him with my health. After my first major surgery with him I knew I was on my way to a pain free life. His skills and competence were apparent to me after the surgery. My thanks to both Dr. Gretzer and his staff for helping me!

Dr. Gretzer seems like a good guy who does good work. However, when I experienced a problem following surgery he was no longer accessible. I don't really know why, but I found it necessary to rely on another doc to follow through, successfully solving my issue.

As said by another reviewer, "Dr. Gretzer's interpersonal skills are superb." I found him to be both a considerate and careful listener who answered all the questions I asked to my complete satisfaction. We agreed on the right procedure to best resolve my medical issue and he successfully performed the surgery, after which he visited me in Post-Op to discuss how things went, what I could expect and gave home-recovery instructions and advice—all in a caring, clear and concise manner. Dr. Gretzer's staff has ALL been top notch, from general appointment scheduling, to surgery scheduling (Lori), to his medical assistant (Shanelle) who provided attentive patient care at the doctor's office and responded to my care-related questions when the need to call arose. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Matthew Gretzer to any and all who are in need of the Urology services he provides.

It took me three Urologists and over six months to find Dr. Matthew Gretzer/Urologist and surgeon.He is personable and an expert regarding penile implants. Dr. Gretzer is an asset to his patients and medical field. I am quite comfortable using his services.

Dr Gretzer is an AMAZING Physician. My urethra was severely damaged which only a specialist could even attempt to repair. Thankfully Doctor Gretzer was recommended as the urinary tract Physician of lost causes. After multiple tests & a thorough exam a surgery was quickly scheduled & accomplished. Two months after his surgery, after having multiple catathers for over a year, I finally was able to relieve myself normally. One final operation is scheduled & thank God I will be be back to normal as I was several years ago. Doctor Gretzer is a miracle worker! There are not enough superlatives to describe his expertise. His staff is great & I have never waited for an appointment, often seen earlier than the scheduled appointment. He actually listens to his patients & takes his time explaining your condition, treatments available & what he recommends. Thank you Doctor Gretzer!

Dr. Gretzer's interpersonal skills are superb. His interest in me as a patient was clear from my first interaction with him. His skills as a surgeon are well developed. I am very fortunate to have him guiding my urological medical care.

He is an amazing doc. Full of knowledge on urostomies and more and He has saved my life twice.

He knows what he is doing and is very professional. His staff is friendly. The office is clean.
